a bit ago, I had to go to Iowa for work, setting up a new branch office.
I had to keep my mental filter on because literally everywhere in Iowa smells like pig shit. Even the cities (which, to be fair, usually smell like shit.).
I wasn’t there long enough to go nose blind, but it was a few months.
This map just… puts some numbers as to why… also makes me think Indiana probably smells like pig shit too… maybe not as much…
I lived often-downwind from a pig farm growing up, and yeah, you never go nose blind to that smell. You tolerate it better, maybe, but it always stinks.
Well, the good part is you had some amazing bacon.
Gotta look on the bright side, right?
Oh, yeah, not at all.
My parents hated them. Long story short they blamed a livestock attack on our dogs getting out, it was the litigious 90s, and while they lost, it led to bad blood forever, stench aside, which they refused to do anything to mitigate.
Covid did it for me.
Lived in Indiana all my life and yeah, hog shit season is a thing
Yet the Great Lakes remain barren. Possible source of hog repellent?
ALRIGHT, LOOKS LIKE WE GOT A LOT OF CRANKING TO DO MFERS! GOBBLESS BORTHER!
ARRRROOOO ALREADY STARTED MFER!!!
Why can I almost never load any images from science_memes? I can load every other community and instance. This happens on all platforms for me, even on different local networks a whole state away.
Edit: Example:
{"error":"unknown","message":"Request error: error sending request for url (http://pictrs:8080/image/original/f0df2dda-387d-42e9-b0d3-eae6db20e11c.jpeg): operation timed out"}
That’s an error I had not seen before, but I also just encountered with this specific post. I will investigate, thanks.
Yeah… Wondering this, too.
Wait, so which dot am I?
. <— You are here.
Talk about invasive species!
The stink must be cuttable with a knife up there
The Hoggening
mmmm. what major city known for food lies between the dots.
Hog Heaven
some may say that’s in poor taste, but i say hogs taste great!
Pulled wild boar Chicago pizza inc.
Napalm, the whole country will smell like bacon for generations.
Hogs are langoliers
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if this includes feral hogs, or just farms?
