Yes, this is still a crucial job role for most organizations.

It’s time to push for ranked choice voting, which will in turn enable third parties.
That’s not the wisest course of action here Drag. Having a gun makes you a target for more than just bigots. It’s a death sentence in some areas - people will pull on you just to steal it, or cops will notice it and gun you down without warning or reason. There are far more effective and safe things we can do to protect ourselves/dragself.
I’ve been using Plex hosted on a Mac Mini for years, multiple hours every day, and have never had issues like this. I hope you’re able to figure it out.
I knew it, I’m surrounded by Assholes!
I once lived in a town of around 1,000 people. It had everything I needed in walking distance - a grocery store, doctors office, pharmacy, post office, restaurant, bar, and mechanic. A beautiful bike trail and river ran through the town. Fiber Optic internet was available, and there was a medium-sized town 15 minutes away with good jobs.
I just checked and the average home price is still around 100k. A 2br apartment rents for $750/mo. These places still exist, but they’re called hidden gems for a reason.
That sounds like a bad idea. Who gets to decide the “special circumstances”? It’s a slippery slope towards eugenics.
The only other time I’ve heard of this was Stardew Valley. ConcernedApe is a treasure.
Something I never see mentioned is the risk of “brain drain”. If you tax the rich too heavily, there’s a possibility that they’ll just move to another country with lower taxes, taking their companies (and jobs) with them.
Good shit. I’ve been using mine for so long and so hard that a couple of the keycaps crumbled. Replaced them with a new set and it’s still going strong, even with a couple spills.
After using a Das Keyboard for many years, I can’t go back to any keyboard that doesn’t have a volume wheel.
It took 20 years, but we’ve finally come full circle from ASCII art.
Yes, in fact I see one now.
I disagree - it feels like Lemmy is seeing the same kind of shills that 4chan saw in the last several elections. These bad actors are trying to sway dems to vote third party or not vote at all “in protest” across many small and large online spaces.
Many IT jobs require an on-call rotation. Even when not on call, an SME can be called in an emergency. Time spent on call-outs typically either pays overtime or gives comp time. The infrastructure has to keep running, that’s just how it is.
Digitally. I’m just too lazy to swap a cartridge.
This has me wondering if baked potatoes or raw potatoes create more power.
