I loved exile so much! It was made by pesto studios and I feel like cyan wouldn’t want to make any of the non cyan Myst games. However they sought after and received the rights to all of the Myst games. So who knows, maybe they would.

This demos so well! I played the original 1997 Riven, I hope 2024 Riven can make an impression on newcomers!
It’s so deep, expansive and immersive and I’m not sure if there is anything else out there that has the same feel.
I think you’re right in that it’s better to be subtle.
The thing about audiences is that they span the gamut, so a little bit of in-your-face is likely seen as warranted for that spectrum of the audience, and a little bit of subtle for observant viewers casts a wider net.
Although I find Doctor Who to be among the least subtle in whatever it tries to do in the genre so, anything over the top kind of feels like it fits in the show as long as they intersperse the season with less obvious commentary as well. My partner only complained that everyone was running around and screaming the whole time 😂
Let’s just hope nobody interprets using proper pronouns as leading to a nuclear apocalypse 🫣
I liked the commentary. I find in sci-fi a short parallel to our world is often not seen as a jab because the veneer of sci-fi is enough to disguise it for most people.
I asked my partner if he noticed the commentary and he didn’t at all 😅
There is a drug called loyal in testing, someone linked to it here as well.

You don’t need to be sorry, it was still a great post ☺️
URU turned into a side project and still is one now and has been one longer than it was a main effort so technically you’re right 😅
Myst IV was made by Ubisoft Montreal. They had some heavy hitters on the team, Mary De Marle is an excellent writer and went on to do amazing things! Jack Wall, the composer that did Myst iii became a very productive video game composter.
URU wasn’t a side project, it was cyan’s big bet that nearly tanked the company. They had other side projects like a third party QA and testing department that kept them afloat. URU got cancelled before launching properly.
Myst V wasn’t meant to exist. After losing so much money on URU, Ubisoft pressured Cyan to put their unused assets from URU into a game that would sell. So they slapped it together with the Myst name that was more recognizable. The game plays and feels just like you’d expect.
Obduction was their big comeback and return to form. Myst-like game without the baggage of the old franchise.
Omega mart in Las Vegas might come close?
Can’t think of large scale ones unless you include the rest of Las Vegas.
Like Ridley Scott and milk android or machine-blood. But he only makes original things so he gets a pass.
As cute as that sounds, for dogs, reducing separation anxiety is counterintuitive.
The more emotional both departing and returning is. The more it hurts them when you leave, the more separation anxiety develops.
In an ideal world, when you leave your dog for the day, saying nothing when going and a professionally distant “greetings puppy” when you return will reduce anxiety for a dog when left alone. This doesn’t work by itself; you have to teach them to be alone slowly and carefully.
This is like someone standing in Times Square saying, “I don’t go to New York or tourist destinations!”
Why are you here? How did you manage to get here?
Star trek Voyager: Elite force!
It was so good for its time. I loved it so much as a kid. I especially loved the portable pattern buffer being a great in-universe solution to explain how a game character can carry many different weapons. It fits so well into the universe that I half expected to see such a thing on the shows someday. It would have been too disruptive to plot development for the characters always to have what they need with them, though.
Thanks for the giveaway, amazing to see you in the fediverse!
symbicort
It’s an inhaler corticosteroid and anti inflammatory often used for asthma but incredible for post infection cough.
If I’m ever sick and have a cough, this puts a stop to that symptom and recovery is so much faster. Don’t even touch any over the counter cough medicine over this imo.
Yeah we need humanoid lizard people with chameleon eyes and tiny inconvenient T-Rex arms.
Speaking of Pavlov, this exact tightening of a leash can lead to leash reactivity in a dog.
Leashes are a form of confinement for a dog, and without proper counter condition they can associate pulling or tightening a leash with negative feelings and can then apply those negative feelings to what they are seeing when pulling.
For example, you’re walking your dog on a leash and your dog sees another dog and wants to be with them therefore pulls. Pulling feels restrictive and eventually starts feeling bad when it sees other dogs while on the leash. These negative feelings can turn into aggression.
The way to avoid this is to find a high value thing that can be used to redirect the dogs attention in these situations. Usually treats. When you have training time try other exercises like pattern games: place a high value treat 20 meters away, walk with the dog on the leash towards the item they want. If they pull say “oopsie” in a happy tone and walk back to the start. They only get the treat if they walk by your side all the way to the object. The dog will quickly learn the pattern and will get a great reward for following the pattern. With enough training and exposure to new distractions with positive reinforcement they will be able to walk by your side no problem. Only do this exercise if you’re able to do it without stressing yourself or the dog. Also, don’t take internet advice, it’s best to get a trainer. Look for force free group training if your on a tight budget!
So nutrek is an umbrella term for Discovery, Lower decks, SNW and Prodigy right? It’s it common for people to hate all 4 with a passion? They’re all sooooo different. I can get hating one, because they are all basically different genres.
I think people are afraid if they support one that they hate, then we’ll get more of the same. So have a knee jerk reaction to be toxic when their hated show is discussed. The irony being that historically star trek is a show that seeks to show an example of interpersonal harmony. These people do want an outlet to discuss their grievances about the shows but mostly see that outlet when someone mentions the show because they love it.
If someone hates all 4, they must be pretty deep into some extreme ideology that somehow doesn’t conform with all of Star Trek.
Maybe startrek.website needs a neutral zone that only allows constructive criticism but still provides an outlet for these feelings. 😅
Edit- I forgot Picard existed, whoops!
Expanse did it well too. There is a character that uses different pronouns, and people just used the right pronouns for them. Thats it. Boom representation achieved.
Now I get that trills were used to stealthily start trying to get trans and gender queer screentime in a very hostile 90s era.
In discovery, Adiras coming out had to once again be aided with the framing of the trill.
Adira had to loudly declare their preferred pronouns in the deep future when all of this was supposed to be no big deal.
It would have been so intelligent if they were just called by their pronouns and were just treated like any other character.
I understood the writers managed to get a coming out story that a lot of people can relate to. But in the future people should just be, and not need to come out.
Am I missing out on some fantastic space shows and movies? I watched the expanse as it came out, the same with Orville. What else is there that suggests market saturation? I need some good stuff this winter 😊
I just bought this after playing satisfactory and I love the optimism in this game.
I’m so into it. Sure you can tell it’s made by a small team but I couldn’t tell it was made by 2 people. I don’t like playing with mods but this one worked well with them to get rid of a bit of storage monotony.
