  • Samsung z fold 3. Overall, I really like having a sizable screen on the go that doesn’t require me to carry it around in a separate bag. The big screen also makes split screen/multiple windows for apps actually pretty viable and I definitely don’t just use this to run 4 instances of pokemon go. The downsides are no custom roms for the phone, and basically every general complaint about Samsung people have made. Battery leaves room to be desired, but unless I’m really using the phone a lot, it gets through the day perfectly fine. A trivial bonus is that the 4:3 screen is perfect for wii/gamecube emulation on the go.

  • Oh wow, you started and beat Y already? Impressive! I’m such a filthy casual. 🙇

In the least condescending way, everything Gen 6 and after is basically just easy mode compared to the past games, especially since I wasn’t doing any sort of a challenge run.

Also, I wasn’t going for side content since I’ve seen it all multiple times, and the main story is only like 6-7 hours if you already know what you’re doing.

Add onto that the fact that I’m currently in online college, which gives me tons of free time, and the fact I caught a 2 week ban from league of legends, playing through Y was a fun side thing when I wasn’t doing something else.

My desires to self insert in those cutscenes with Shauna are, admittedly, a large source of bias for me in favor of X

The Gen 6 characters are really fun, no contest there

  • Because I’m just built different, I replayed Gen 6 in the time after this interaction (Y, specifically), I would solidly rank it as my 4th favorite generation, behind 5, 4, and 7, in that order. And that’s nothing against Gen 6, there’s just a lot of really strong pokemon games.

To sort of clarify my thoughts, Gen 6 is where I feel pokemon first started a sort of “two steps forward, one step back” sort of improvement, which is really why I have such mixed feelings about it.

  • So like, they saw the Xbox one literally fumble an entire generation of consoles because they planned to have always online even though they cut it due to backlash, and thought “maybe people would like this for their primary computer”? What kind of ass backwards marketing is that? People were absolutely fucking pissed they couldn’t lay around and play whatever shitty games xbox got. Imagine if instead of crappy games it’s literally everything done on the computer that can’t be accomplished if not connected, especially for laptops where you might be somewhere you don’t have a solid connection. Imagine not only losing what you’re currently doing online, but getting booted from the entire os because someone tripped over an ethernet cable.

  • As a user of a folding phone, the aspect ratio problem isn’t actually as common as I expected. The only apps I’ve had issues with are pokemon go, which refuses to acknowledge that wide aspect ratios exist, and Instagram, which sometimes struggles with the 3:4 screen since most photos are squares.

Also, it can easily be worked around by split screening apps with something else. I usually just run two instances of pokemon go, which then both work fine on the tall aspect ratio of half the screen.

Also, a bit of a niche use, but the 4:3 landscape is perfect for playing gamecube games
