It’s cos they’re privately owned and so don’t necessarily have to be shit, where publicly owned companies are legally required to maximize profits for shareholders.

I am 100% certain it will be worth it. FROM have never half-assed a game nor expansion, Elden Ring least of all.
I think it’s awesome that different Batman stories can examine different versions of Bruce and his position as a billionaire - it allows different aspects of the world to be interrogated: criminals sometimes doing crime because they know of no other way to survive in a capitalist hellscape, the apathies of billionaires to the evils of their financiers, Batman’s obsession with order leasing him to militarise the streets of the city he loves, etc.
It’ll almost certainly not run very well, but I still played 100hr of the base game despite its poor performance. I preordered too because I know regardless of technical state it will be worth playing.
If they added automatic online account collation and mass deletion I’d pay them $100 on the spot to wipe the hundreds of random accounts I have on sites/services I never use and often have never used.
How the hell does Zoom have 7500 employees??
Nilay’s point is that the Vision Pro is by far the best implementation of this kind of device yet - possibly just about as good as is actually possible - and yet still suffers severe issues as a result. Usually Apple waits and learns until they can launch a product that is well considered and that often shows the industry how to move forward, yet in this case it’s quite possible that they’ve actually just demonstrated that this kind of computing fundamentally doesn’t work.
Ubuntu wants to own snap, with their own proprietary store etc which runs against alternatives like Flatpak and goes against the FOS ethos
Snap is slower and worse than Flatpak (the most popular alternative) in most ways, with very few pros that will likely be caught-up-to soon too
Especially since those with the most power do everything possible to maintain at least the illusion of growth, to further increase their power.
Also the fact that the faster the wifi, the easier it is to block.
UpNote is the best non-FOSS option
Yep, though Google is happy to process your data in the cloud constantly while Apple consistently tries to find ways to achieve it locally, which is generally better for privacy and security but also cheaper for them too.
Google effectively has a monopoly on the Android app ecosystem and this trial brought to light mountains of evidence that they maintain this through extremely anti-competitive means.
*3 hour show + 30 min pre-show which still actually included a bunch of awards.
Exactly. I can’t believe how much praise people are giving Cyberpunk for not being broken anymore. Like bro that ain’t an achievement.
Yeah GTA has been stylistically a kind of ‘hyperreality’ where they exaggerate within a relatively realistic framework.
I feel like I’m the only person who wasn’t blown away by the graphics.
Like sure it looked really good, but it still looked like a videogame, on the same level as 3yo last-gen Last of Us 2
None of the things happening at Bungie are related to Sony at all, as the article states
“I never would.”
Trying, not releasing
