My personal hope is that this is the end of the Russian Federation. It’s an enormous country which has oppressed and subjugated a bunch of different cultural and ethnic groups to homogenize Russian society according to the leaders’ ideals for a long time and I think it would be better if it was split into smaller countries that would hopefully allow for actual democracy closer to the people.

As far as I remember, it is Norway that has a law requiring social media influencers to label their pictures if they have been altered and it’s France that requires models to stay over a certain BMI. I think both laws are good, but the latter one should maybe be adjusted to not strictly look at BMI as it would, for example, impact tall models differently than short ones.

Even with the same muscle mass, it appears men might be stronger in the upper body compared to women (“A Comparison between Male and Female Athletes in Relative Strength and Power Performances”, Sandro Bartolomei, et al. ) so I’m not sure checking for any one single variable would make things fair.

My armchair-biologist answer is that when forcing yourself to stay awake through the sleepy periods, you’re signaling to the body that there is something dangerous happening and that you need to stay alert and that makes it harder to sleep. For me it usually helps if I can sneak in a nap during the day, makes me more relaxed in the evening.
