Statistics are on the side of the company. Buying consumer data is always the best strategy for them. The only thing that can limit abuse of privacy and consumer rights is government regulation.

The point here is that the simple act of returning the shopping cart is the baseline of ethical behavior. This is just illustrating that society’s individualism is so strong that this simple act of spending 10 seconds to keep the place in order is often ignored.

Of course people that return the shopping cart can be ignorant assholes as well. But the point is that this extremely basic act is severely lacking in society. There are some things that should be banned, such as the twitter accounts that promoted the attempt at a coup in Brazil in Jan 8 2023.

These are the accounts that the judge asked to be banned. After Twitter didn’t comply they started sending fines and eventually outright banning it.

Free speech doesn’t mean you can say literally anything. It means the government cannot punish you for your political views. But they can, and must punish racism and anti-democracy speech.

The 7 deadly sins are never mentioned in the bible. They were discussed by a few different people but made popular by Pope Gregory 1st in 590 AD. So therefore are an invention of the church and need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Pride especially is the most stupid one. Should Jhonny not be proud of his skills? Should one not be proud of anything to be able to go into heaven? If you earn a gold medal at a sport would you go to hell for saying that you were the best athlete?

And can we be sure that Jhonny accepted the bet because of greed for the fiddle? Could it not be necessity? Could it not be convenience or simply confidence in his skills?

Doesn’t matter how much you bomb Mexico. If there is a demand for drugs there will be a supply. No matter the price. A drug addict will do ANYTHING to get it

Cutting the supply would only work if you’re somehow able to cut almost all supply for 30 years straight, until the currently addicted people die off or sort themselves out

To stop the drugs you need to stop the demand for drugs. Treat addicts instead of arresting them. And oh my god stop prescribing literal Opioids as “treatment”

From time to time I feel like my dreams are a continuation of other dreams I’ve had in the past.

I can recall 2 or 3 different scenarios that somehow I keep dreaming about and it always feels like either a repeat or a continuation of the last time I dreamt about this scenario

The same characters show up and in the same environment etc

It’s quite cool. I always wake up and feel like “woah this would be an amazing movie” except the one where I’m lost in an underground circus and the magicians and lions are trying to kill me. I sometimes relive the story of dreams I had years ago. I only wish I could remember more about them.

I don’t know if there’s a memory space for dreams but at least it seems like it’s possible for the brain to fall into a similar state while sleeping and you feel like it was the same dream as before
