The toy might have been advertised as negative ion thingy. Those stuff often contains Thorium minerals or even pure Thorium dioxide. Substances one does not want to have close to ones private parts. Beside that, I agree that its a security issue to have the plain text or QR code stored somwhere else than in the authenticator app itself.
