Ohey, hello there. There isn’t as much activity here on Lemmy (or at least, on Burggit, not sure how things are on other branches), but welcome to Lemmy anyway~

Yea, the eraTohoTW games aren’t fully translated, unfortunately. There are a few spinoff/modded versions (AnonTW and PedyTW are the most notable forks of the original game), I don’t know if they have more character dialogue translated, but it’s possible. You could try discussions on the hgames community, they might be more knowledgeable there.

As for a favorite game, hmm. I’ve tried all the games in the tierlist here, but I’ve only ever played eraTohoK, eraTohoTW, and ReverseTentaclePalace for an extended amount of time - couldn’t really get into the feel of the other games. I don’t have a particular favorite, but each game is good for someone that wants to roleplay a particular character morality type:

eraTohoTW: If you wanna have a “good and wholesome” session (basically only use timestop for traveling between places, don’t use it to rape others)

eraTohoK: If you wanna have a mixed/neutral session (you’re free to be as noble and helpful or depraved as you want)

ReverseTentaclePalance: If you’ve read too many tentacle doujins and you wanna be the bad tentacle monster

In general I don’t find joy from being mean/hurtful/harmful to the girls, so even in eraTohoK, it’s more fun and meaningful to take care of the girls (e.g. giving them therapy, being kind to them, helping them overcome past trauma) rather than doing bad things to them. Even in RTP, there are some options which are more merciful and kind to the captured girls than others.

“The real world’s shit enough as it is, so there’s no need to make it shittier for others even in a game.” - that’s what I think.

Anyway, that’s a rough overview of the games. If you’re tired of the grind, just use cheats to skip the grind and have the gaming experience you want (e.g. infinite money, making it easy to raise favorability, allowing harems, etc.) Some of the games can be pretty grindy, after all.

It’s a 2D top-down bullet-dodging game franchise from the 90s that spawned a large collection of other media: Music (everything from catchy pop tracks to metalcore, dance routines, official manga, fan doujins (including h doujins) and anime, and of course, memes.

I’ve never actually played the official games myself, but the music from fan bands inspired by the in-game tracks was pretty good.
