  • Because if we were all somewhere else, you would be asking the same question about that place.

“This is rather as if you imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, ‘This is an interesting world I find myself in — an interesting hole I find myself in — fits me rather neatly, doesn’t it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!’ This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, frantically hanging on to the notion that everything’s going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise. I think this may be something we need to be on the watch out for.”

That’s a long and boring response.

The evidence that no one can live past 123 is that no one has ever lived past 123. We have a sample size of billions on that statistic.

Some low quality science journal says that ‘maybe we could live forever, or like, 150 or something’ and I say ‘cool story bro’.

I can imagine that it might be true, but that does not make it possible.

    Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

People like you are why Iemmy is almost as bad as Reddit… talking in circles, saying nothing.

Please forgive me if I have misunderstood you.

I am not sure what relevance ‘pop-science’ has unless pop science means non science.

I get that you are saying ‘maybe, possibly, not completely ridiculous to think’, etc., however until it has been demonstrated to be a possibility, the idea that a human might live until 150 is just about as preposterous as the articles’ postulation of the potential for physical immortality.

Something which is evidenced to be not possible does not suddenly become ‘possible’ just because one can imagine it.

  • If you are in pain now, you will love it when they are finished with the root canal. I have had six of them over the years, and every time I went from feeling absolutely horrible to 100% in the 1 hour it took them to do the operation.

The only thing that is not comfortable are the initial numbing shots.

Make sure they get you good and numb. If you have any doubt as to whether you need another shot, just get another shot.

After 3 or 4 or 5 shots of numbing agent, you won’t feel a thing.

Once the numbing wears off you will feel totally fine.

It’s really not that bad, much better than living with tooth pain.

Also, ask for a big gloop of topical anesthetic where they are planning to do the injections, it helps a little bit.

Lastly, ask for 10 milligrams of diazepam if you have someone to drive you. A little benzo to take the edge off goes a super long way and dentists have no problem prescribing it. Have the dentist prescribe it and take it 1 hour before the appointment. I am 200lbs and 10mg does the trick.

  • Walz did a great job, I am super happy.

I like how Walz chose not to dig into Vance too much, but instead he focused on a return to some sort of a normal functioning government.

Even some republicans are tired of the war between the left and right, and some of those who publicly identify as trump supporters may secretly vote for Harris simply because they do not want to continue to be at odds with their left wing family members.

Some republicans might recall a time when they were the patriotic ones, loving their football, their police, and their country. Now the party of trump is being told that football is woke, that the police are weak, and that the country is a shithole.

I think some of them miss what the Republican party used to be.

Even if it is just 5 percent of trump voters, Walz did a great job sending the message that it’s time we come together as a country and start making progress where it can be made, rather than feeding into the identity politics game of mud slinging.

Vance and his ilk wear their atrocious views on their sleeves, we don’t need to waste any time pointing out how terrible they are, we need to instead focus entirely on what we can accomplish together.

Everyone who is eligible needs to vote this time around, let’s all do our part to make it a landslide.
