Is er toevallig een instance die helemaal in TTRPG thema is? Ik heb een Pathfinder instance gevonden en wat TTRPG communities op verschillende algemene instances, maar een TTRPG instance zou ideaal zijn.

Edit: Misschien ga ik er van de zomer zelf wel eentje opzetten, als er tegen die tijd niet al eentje is.

Er zijn de communities op de feddit.nl instance. Of je kunt kijken of je de mod kan bereiken om het over te nemen. Volgens mij is er ook nog /c/nederlands@lemmy.world.

I probably will, because I know the communities I was part of there will never be as big and succesful here. Let’s face it, Reddit is far simpler. Lemmy takes a little effort to figure out how to navigate, and many casual internet users won’t want to put in that effort.

Ik denk dat het meer meerwaarde heeft om instances te delen dan communities. Een community komt automatisch op de communitylijst van feddit.nl te staan als iemand binnen deze instance lid is van die community of de !community@instance.domain command in de zoekbalk van de communitylijst heeft gedaan. /c/trees@lemmy.world, bijvoorbeeld, stond niet in de lijst totdat ik !trees@lemmy.world intypte in de zoekbalk, de pagina ververste, en vervolgens nog eens zocht naar “trees”.

Als je in plaats daarvan Instances deelt, kunnen mensen binnen die instance kijken wat voor communities er zijn en daar lid van worden. Zo komen die in de communitylijst van feddit.nl en kunnen anderen ze ook vinden. Obscure instances vinden gaat denk ik een groter probleem zijn dan communities vinden.

On that note wil ik graag de pathfinder.social instance met jullie delen, voor als je Pathfinder (1e of 2e) of Starfinder speelt. Een aantal losse communities voor algemene Pathfinder2e discussie zoals /c/pf2general@pathfinder.social of voor meer specifieke onderwerpen zoals starfinder Homebrew op /c/starfinderhomebrew@pathfinder.social.

I haven’t and I won’t. As much as I hate the API changes and as much as I hate being forced to use the terrible official app, there are communities on Reddit that won’t be going dark indefinitely that I am an active part of and wish to remain part of.

Lemmy is a great concept in theory, but in practice it leads to what was a single community on Reddit being spread over several instances. A community with tens of thousands on Reddit might find a few communities spread over a handful of instances and because a community doesn’t show up in the Communities list under All until someone does the !community@instance.domain command for that specific community (meaning they physically went to other instances to find that community on that other instance and then in practice manually added it to the list)

This also means that as the amount of instances grows, specific communities will become even harder to find as the instances themselves become more obscure and hard to find.

Confusing. There are communities I can’t subscribe to because I can’t access them from my instance, and I have no idea why that is. The experience has been interesting so far, and growing the network is going to be something I’ll be keeping an eye on. For now, though, I’ll have to wait until someone creates the communities I was a part of on Reddit.

Edit: It seems a community won’t show up on your instance’s community list unless someone in that instance is subscribed to it.

I’m a little confused on how to find more communities to join. I’m on the feddit.nl instance, and I know I can subscribe to communities on any instance, but there isn’t really a search button or anything like that, at least not on the Jerboa app. Is there, like, a user guide on how this shit works?
