I use it a lot on my systems for very simple scripts because I am significantly more experienced in python compared to bash.
I remember getting given a 10k line python script which “was the documentation” for an API i had to interact with using powershell. I hated life so much because of that stupid project.
It’s the best scripting language I know of, but man I hate dynamically types languages. I am so used to rust and C/C++ that reading any large script or program will drive me insane

I had an elementary school teacher who would ask all of us to save the seeds when making jack o lanterns and give it to her. She’d then make a ton of roasted pumpkin seeds and share it with us and some kids from other classes who brought seeds.
They are pretty good. Highly recommend.
Well, there’s also that bit where we funded fundamentalists during the cold war to try and fuck with the soviets, and the imperialism we and the soviets did that led to radicalization. A problem that we exacerbated which bit us back in the ass a few decades later.

Sometimes I join weird servers and end up staying for the memes. I’m on a tankie discord server, and while i have it muted and generally ignore it, time to time i take a peek and find some godly ultra high effort shitposts mixed in with the muck. I’m on a server for radio hacking although wireless shit is magical to me. But the memes are great even if they sometimes look like they are hieroglyphics.
But that gavin newsom discord doesn’t have good memes. Now, many of the memes are just various “Vote!” images and bottom of the barrel facebook memes.
Another remarkable thing about it is how many old people there are on that server who have their first and last name and their state as their username, and sometimes they even have a selfie as a profile pic.
It’s so weird to have some servers with genuine security culture like your average anarchist or queer server, and then also have Gavin Newsom’s server with “Jane Doe [WI]” sending a facebook post she made that is just a link to a youtube vid on project 2025 followed by her saying “Shameful!!”
Even though I’m an anarchist from not california, i somehow ended up in Gavin Newsom’s discord server where people regularly organize to text voters like this.
I am so fucking glad i take great care to keep my names and numbers off of these lists, and even more glad to live in a solid colored state with no hope of flipping meaning the election ads are minimal.
My poor Californian friends receive so many goddamn text messages it’s insane, and my friends from Pennsylvania and Georgia have it worse.
Are you drawing the line of what is acceptable to protest between protesting for an end to genocide and protesting for the rights of Palestinians to govern themselves, rather than be at the bottom of the hierarchy in an apartheid government?
I heavily contemplated got to planning suicide 10 years ago, and did so again roughly a year ago. Ten years ago i was a coward, and last year I called a friend while at the bottom of the pit, and he helped me get out.
This comic hit me like a truck, holy fucking shit. I think I never fully processed those emotions, but man, I remember that pain now, it feels so raw.
I’ve recovered now, but this comic reminds me of rock bottom. 11/10 depressing comic, this ruined my morning.
I remember buying jumbo note cards after my professor said we were allowed to bring a notecard without specifying the size.
I also remember commandeering my school’s ultra high resolution poster printer in order to print notes in extremely small font, alongside using LaTeX to let me format the document in a way that maximized my ability to stuff it full of information. The person who helped me do that let me know that the note sheet alone cost the school roughly $4.00/double sided page, or 1/100th the lab fee for the class I printed it for, even though that class had no lab and was in a regular, non-lab lecture hall.
In most cases there isn’t much you can do to fool the government without a lot of prep time such as scouting routes to find cameras, destroying them, or being really good at changing into bloc in the middle of a crowd and not getting caught.
But the important thing is threat modeling. The past dozen or so protests I’ve been at haven’t had the government as a big threat, it has had fascists as the primary threat. While a fascist cop would be a problem, it is much less likely than fascists combing through protest footage to try and doxx people, or a fascist at said action trying to get good photographs. That’s why I masked up.
The last real dicey action that I went to I still masked up, even knowing that the government could still try to track me if needed because I knew it would be time consuming to do so, and that they would only go through the process of doing that if I make it worth their while. Bloc is still effective, but quite hard under this heavily surveillanced police state.
I think it would be funny to normalize wearing bloc in order to retain privacy. It’s why some people might wear accessories they normally don’t wear, such as beanies and sunglasses at protests, even if they aren’t in full bloc, covering hair and eyes (in addition to a surgical mask) can make it really hard to doxx someone.
Half of me wants to be snarky and call you privileged for being able to ignore these types of things, or some string of expletives for choosing to ignore an ongoing genocide. But then I thought about it and damn, i really wish I could ignore this mess, and I can’t blame you for just giving in. Your mental health must have improved drastically after this. I would be a hypocrite to call you out while wanting it to end so badly.
As someone who is politically engaged to the point of being an activist, I don’t mind seeing political news, and I read a fuckton of it. But jesus christ do I want this election year to just end, this season has been insufferable and exhausting. I’ve been struggling to find a way to participate beyond the regular praxis I do, since I can at least find solace in my friends as we address queer issues and homelessness in my area. But going beyond that brings me into the purgatory of American politics in this hell year.
That’s a fun mistake to make. I had a similar thing happen with Kubuntu uninstalling my GPU drivers. I could never figure out what caused it.
I work in security, and I’ve seen a lot more EDR killers lately. Every incident I’ve seen regarding ransomware or potential ransomware has used EDR killers while compromising DCs, backup servers, file servers, and the odd workstation used for persistence.
I have a similar job, but I have been in the unfortunate position to be swamped with work for the past month or so.
I have had one task that needed babysitting in the past 3 weeks, and I was so busy that I was jumping between tasks at that point.
