Don’t worry. Historically, this won’t affect the NYPD one bit. If there’s ever a settlement it will just be footed by the taxpayers.
This is a cool defense against something I hadn’t even considered as a possible problem. Unfortunately it’s Windows-only for now, but I’m looking forward to this becoming more mainstream.
I’m definitely here for more alternatives as well (and because I haven’t yet figured out how to save a post without commenting)
I really appreciate these attempts to help visualize fabulous sums of money. It reminds me of https://mkorostoff.github.io/1-pixel-wealth/
Trying to get context? Straight to jail.
But hey, at least one of them became President.
I’m all for it. I’m not sure what laws actually exist in the USA related to this, which is, I imagine, why it’s so pervasive. Some states have started passing legislation to help their residents protect their privacy, but until we have something on a national level it’s going to be an issue.
Even though it seems like common sense, our current society is ruled by profit and extraction, not decency. Throwing CEOs and boards in prison with a lot of publicity sure could be a way to change that…
I should have looked into it before posting as I misremembered the breadth of the issue, but when I first started going out there for work this was a recent happening: https://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/13/somalia.americans.killed/index.html
So it wasn’t terrorist cells as such, but some guys recruiting Somali-Americans to go to Somalia and fight for some other guys.
From my limited experience, Minnesota is tremendously more progressive than their neighbors who make a really big deal about (poor quality) cheese. I met some younger folks in the Twin Cities who had escaped an otherwise bleak trajectory after growing up in Wisconsin.
If you haven’t been, Minneapolis and St. Paul are beautiful cities filled with some lovely people. (They also had some terrorist cells some years back. People need something to do in the cold months, I suppose.) But there’s culture and history and decent food and people are really kind and welcoming. And although the winters are cold, getting around in the skyway is a neat idea, despite making the downtown feel like a big indoor mall.
I haven’t been to Wisconsin but I know people who have. It sounds like they’re trying in some places (Milwaukee) but sometimes trying just isn’t enough.
This is a great question. Nothing like a good end of Link’s Awakening cry.
At least it sounds like the weather cock had a good time.
For real though, great work. I played through the original Link’s Awakening on Gameboy when I was but a wee lad, and have played through various re-releases. It’s a blast every time.
Shouldn’t you change your account info to something fictitious, though?

Don’t stop there. Bring a whole row of them.
In the Darknet Diaries episode linked below, Bowser shares his experience living in the Dominican Republic and how that all came to an abrupt and unpleasant end.
Hey little buddy, it’s time for your nap.
