It’s recently struck me as odd that the game uses the term Light Dragon, but doesn’t use Fire Dragon, Ice Dragon and Shock Dragon. I know why the Light Dragon wasn’t named, and there’s probably a lore reason implied by Dinral, Naydra and Farosh being given actual names, but it’d be nice if the Light Dragon fit the pattern.

So the question is, if you were to give the Light Dragon a name to fit with the others (likely given to her by people who see her), what would it be?

Dinraal and Naydra are reminiscent of Din and Nayru which are recurring names of magical beings in the series at least. I don’t know where they got Farosh, and you’d definitely think someone would have given the light dragon a name between when it was first seen and the events of TOTK, just to have something to call it

For the Light Dragon to follow the “named after a goddess” pattern, she would need to be named after Hylia … which would also be fitting, considering who she actually IS. But that would probably have been too much of a spoiler, I guess?

Still, something like Hyliana, Lhyana or maybe Hylin would have been nicer than just “Light Dragon”. It’s weird that that this dragon was allegedly floating around the sky over Hyrule for a whole century, yet noone ever gave her a name.

…alternatively, she could have been named after Ordona who, along with “Faron”, “Eldin”, and “Lanayru” was the Light Spirit Guardian of the Ordon Province in Twilight Princess. Not exactly the same as a goddess, but part of a quintet of equally mighty spiritual beings of which 3 are named after the Golden Goddesses already.
