Statistically speaking, cars are the #1 cause of death (really, look it up). They kill more than cardiovascular disease, than cancer, famine. Just occupying a passenger seat is, debatably, more dangerous than smoking a cigarette. We do print warnings on packs now - should we do the same for cars?
Anyway, now we can comfortably know, that cars also get to know us REALLY close before they kill us.
And the silliest thing is: I cannot avoid riding or driving a car in most places, even if I want to. For some reason, people born before me had decided, that being car-dependent is the best thing ever, and if anything, - we should be making our living spaces even more dangerous, just to get people to buy more wheely-rolly-death-machines. So we can all mcfeast in Valhalla later or something, idk.
This sentiment comes from a time when the (very sizable) middle class could afford to own and maintain two new-model (not pre owned) vehicles, and it worked great for them. I feel like I’ve been here a bit longer than you, but in a similar position. All I can say is vote and stay informed, there will come a time when the scales tip.
