But the way to reduce gun violence is to build a strong social safety net, you want to tackle the root cause? Get rid of the reason people join gangs. Look how effective the war on drugs is, people still use it. Border enforcement will catch some sure, but gang violence will keep happening. The conservatives don’t like strong social safety nets so they sell you security theater, just like after 911, it’s theater. Talking about money spent? Rebuilding neglected infrastructure takes a lot of money. Kids under 17 get dental and vision care. Cheaper day care those are examples of things that we have to show for it.
