ā¢ The episode title is a reference to the spaghetti western, āA Few Dollars Moreā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ āA Few Dollars Moreā was the sequel to āA Fistful of Dollarsā which TNG referenced with title of season sixās āA Few Datas Moreā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Badgey as introduced in āTerminal Provocationsā. Jack McBrayer reprises the role here.
ā¢ The Kalla system was first seen in āFirstbornā, and itās where the USS Cerritos fought the Pakled clumpship āNo Small Partsā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Here we see Drookmani scavengers collecting Rutherfordās lost implant. We already saw this happening at the end of āThe Stars at Nightā, but the scene ended before revealing it was the Drookmani collecting the implant.
ā¢ The Drookmani captain is voiced by Fred Tatasciore, the actor who voices Shaxs.
ā¢ The Droomani lower decker is voiced by Paul Scheer, the actor who voices Billups.
ā¢ The bisected circle emblem on the Bynar ship as also seen on the high tech fanny packs the Bynars wore in ā11001001ā, as well as this episode.
ā¢ The Bynars are speaking in the language we heard in ā11001001ā, and we see their text shown a display, also from that episode.
ā¢ While we never saw a Bynar ship in any previous iteration of Trek, I did think it worth pointing out that they are a species where two individuals are linked and act in unison, and here we see what would be a single captainās chair on almost any other speciesā ship is actually a loveseat, occupied by two Bynar.
ā¢ The Mysterious Threat adds the Bynar ship to itās collection.
ā¢ Badgey appears to be controlling the Drookmani who salvaged him via glowing cybernetic implants, which immediately invokes the Borg. It also makes me think, however, of the fact that after having been beamed into space in āDataloreā, we learn in āBrothersā that Lore was rescued by Pakleds.
ā¢ Rutherford has outfitted the Sequoia shuttle with a grappler. The NX-01 Enterprise was equipped with grapplers as seen āBroken Bowā, and so were its shuttlepods, which we saw in āSimilitudeā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Boimler expressed excitement over the NX-01ās grapplers in āThose Old Scientistsā, as did Laāan.
ā¢ The Daystrom Institute was first mentioned in āThe Measure of a Manā, and is named for Richard Daystrom from āThe Ultimate Computerā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ The view of the Daystrom Institute is recreated from the PIC episode, āRemembranceā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ The Daystrom Instituteās Self-Aware Megalomaniacal Computer Storage room was first seen in āWhere Pleasant Fountains Lieā.
ā¢ Peanut Hamper was introduced in āNo Small Partsā and given over to the custody of the Daystrom Institute in āA Mathematically Perfect Redemptionā.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Peanut Hamper is played by Kether Donohue.
ā¢ AGIMUS was introduced in āWhere Pleasant Fountains Lieā, where we also saw him placed in Daystrom Institute custody.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ AGIMUS is portrayed by Jeffery Combs, who has played a number of roles across DS9, VOY, and ENT, including:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Tiron - āMeredionā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Penk - āTsunkatseā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Krem - āAcquistionā
ā¢ Lord Tyrannikillicus was first seen in āWhere Pleasant Fountains Lieā and is voiced by Shaxsā voice actor, Fred Tatasciore.
ā¢ We saw AGIMUSā drones in āWhere Pleasant Fountains Lieā, but only depicted in a mural on a world he had conquered, or in a fantasy he had; this is the first weāve seen an actual drone.
ā¢ AGIMUS states the Mysterious Threatās attack on the Bynar ship occurred on stardate 58934.9.
ā¢ The Drookmani ship is outfitted with a number of canons. In āTerminal Provocationsā, the first episode to depict the Drookmani, their ship has no weapons at all, and uses a tractor beam to throw space junk at the Cerritos.
ā¢ āAlmost as noble as the time you snapped my [beep]ing neck!ā Badgey is still upset about the events of āTerminal Provocationsā when Rutherford had to ākillā him in order to save his and Tendiās lives.
ā¢ Rutherfordās hug causes Badgey to split into two separate entities, one of whom is named Goodgey. In āThe Enemy Withinā, Captain Kirk was separated into his good and evil halves.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Perhaps worth noting that Goodgey is silver, similar to the combadges worn by the Cerritos crew.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Badgey also splits off his logical aspect in Logic-y. Spock dreamed about being split into his human and Vulcan halves in āSpock Amokā.
ā¢ āThis stuff is great! All we have on Orion are, like, sharp little pebbles.ā It as established in āSecond Contactā that there is no sand on Orion.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ It was also established that sand gives Boimler a rash, but he doesnāt mention it here.
ā¢ Tendi is barefoot in this scene in Ecuadorā¦ Unrelated, this scene is also lifted directly from the pitch for the proposed Quentin Tarrantino Trek film that was being talked about back in 2017.
ā¢ āDo you guys want to take a root beer float break?ā Root beer is like the Federation, so bubbly and cloying and happy. Itās insidious.
ā¢ The EMH used neurazine gas to incapacitate the Romulans whoād hijacked the USS Prometheus in āMessage in a Bottleā.
ā¢ The Tyrus VIIA research station was seen in āA Quality of Lifeā. Itās where the Exocomps were created by Doctor Farallon and developed sentience.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ The interior of the Tyrus VIIA research station is recreated from āA Quality of Lifeā.
ā¢ Badgey develops a plan to travel at warp 9.9 and transfer himself across subspace to the entire Federation. In āThresholdā we learned that an object traveling at warp 10 exists at all points of the universe simultaneously.
ā¢ We are introduced to Peanut Hamperās father, Kevin. In āNo Small Partsā Peanut Hamper declared that the only reason she joined Starfleet was to upset Kevin.
ā¢ Among the Federation material we see Badgey infect are:
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ A subspace relay which appears to be identical to the āancient space capsuleā the USS Enterprise D located in āThe Neutral Zoneā which contained three surviving humans from 20th century Earth who had been cryogenically frozen.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ The Cerritos
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ The USS Vancouver where we see Barbra Brinson from āCupidās Errant Arrowā
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ The VCF Shāvhal from āwej Dujā, commanded by Sokel
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Starbase 25, first mentioned in āThe Slaver Weaponā and seen in āAn Embarrassment of Dooplersā
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Deep Space 9 from DS9
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Douglass Station which was introduced in āSecond Contactā
ā¢ Badgey, now all powerful, turns a light blue tone, and exists simultaneously across his past, present and future. He departs to an empty dimension to create a universe.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Badgey expresses that he has become tired of Earth. These people. Being caught in the tangle of their lives. Also, for some reason he now has human genitals fully visible on screen.
Ā Ā Ā ā¢ Badgey ascends as OāConnor did in āMoist Vesselā; he has six arms, and the outline of a great bird appears around him, with three circles at its head. He says he might hang out with the Q Continuum, introduced in āEncounter at Farpointā or check out the Black Mountain, which Shaxs told Rutherford of in āWeāll Always Have Tom Parisā. As he ascends, we see he is travelling towards the Koala. Why is it smiling? What does it know?
AGIMUSās drones were reminiscent of the drones from Arsenal of Freedom
I donāt disagree, but the AGIMUS drones are not the exact same design as the Echo Papa 607s, nor is there any explicit connection between AGIMUS and the Minosians, so I donāt think it qualifies.
THATāS what it was! I kept thinking they looked so familliar but couldnāt put my finger on it. I was totally thinking of those dudes.
Isnt Badger turning light blue with genitals complaining about humanity a Dr.Manhattan reference?
It would if he had visible genitals in that sequence, but he doesnāt.
Are you implying that thereās a joke in a Canon Connections post? Inconceivable.
Anyone implying there are jokes in the canon connections post is mistaken. Star Trek is serious business.
cannon*
This was my interpretation as well.
Jeffrey Coombs also played Schran in various ENT episodes.
