    Road Side Picnic.

If you like the idea of the game STALKER you will enjoy the book. If you don’t like the idea of the game you probably wont. If you don’t know what the game is you should probably have a look at it. It’s easy to read, though I am “reading” the audiobook which is about 7-8 hours long, so pretty digestible as most books go.

Before that I “read” Alphabet Squadron (which is a post-return-of-the-jedi starwars book). It was pretty good. I liked the protagonist, has some characters flaws which I always enjoy. Again I used the audiobook which has the classic starwars audio book style where it’s got sporadic music and effects, IMO not overly so though, just enough to be atmospheric. Only one reader, not “fully cast”.

Currently, Leviathan Falls, the last book in The Expanse series. I’m a little over halfway through. Which is a little bittersweet, since I’ve loved this series for a long time now, and I want to know how it ends… but also kinda don’t want it to end.

Not sure what’ll be next up, but probably one of Babel, The Kaiju Preservation Society, or The House in the Cerulean Sea, depending on my mood.

The House in the Cerulean Sea would be a good palate cleanser. It’s just … nice.

I wrapped up Cloud Cuckoo Land (fantastic) and Seveneves (great, if a little cramped). Currently reading The Overstory which has been a journey, really makes you think about things that you might not normally (the vastness if time, interconnected ness of nature), but it’s getting a bit drawn out.

I loved Cloud Cuckoo, I really didn’t care for Seveneves (and I actively disliked Termination Shock… it’s been a progression but I do believe my taste and Neal Stephenson have finally cleanly diverged), and Ioved The Overstory, though yeah, I agree that I think it ultimately was drawn out. I read it while on a big plant, tree, fungus and mycorrhizal kick, reading lots of books on the possibility of plant sensation/communication/cognition.

Currently on Tom Hanks’ The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece and just finished The Glass Hotel by Emily St John Mandel. Not sure what’s next but I’ll start looking when I get closer to the end of this book

Recently finished Project Hail Mary, and The Fold. Next up is The Martian. Also need to read the latest Rivers of London book.

I think people forget that it’s young adult. If you keep that in mind, I think it’s a very fine outing.
