Mastodon doesn’t have to be the twitter replacement. Hell, I’d rather Masto have its own userbase and its own unique culture, and that people come here cause they actually want to use the platform, not settle for the next best thing for their bird site.
The problem with the internet is that it is far too centralized, which is what has led to this enshitification of platforms in the first place. Rather than mastodon become the next twitter, it would be better if several alternatives stepped up to replace it. Same goes for reddit, and whatever other site decides to shit the bed next.
