The Christians I knew during the Trump campaign saw him as a convenient ally. For them, he was Republican and was going to overturn RvW, which of course he did.
But after RvW, it was like the dog caught the car and had no idea what to do. Many of the Christians who voted for Trump in 2016 didn’t in 2020 or simply pinched their nose and voted for him anyway because he was better than any Democrat.
There are fundamentalist Christians who use the Bible as a way to oppress those they disagree with. They are firmly in the alt-right category and I’m not talking about them.
I’m talking about the Christians who are actually devout. Which in my opinion is so much worse.
You are right but the irony of this is that story after story in the Bible is directed at warning people about convenient allies! The Devil is the ultimate convenient ally - the worst type of evil is the wolf that wears the skin of a sheep.
This is the issue I have with all religions. Most are actually based on very thoughtful stories of selflessness and compassion and warnings about the risks of cutting corners in life and these dumb fucks get lost in the woods with stupid details that serve some sort of agenda that usually ends up being based on manipulation of people with fear every single time.
What’s crazy to me is the Christian Evangelical following.
They believe all that hocus pocus, and yet this dude is the entire embodiment of the Anti-Christ, if such a thing could even exist.
And yet they flock to him.
