Just checking the vibe. I see that this community doesn’t have much activity, but maybe people are interested in migrating here amidst the reddit controversy.
This is my ~/
I’m a Redditor immigrant. I think Lemmy is a much better fit for the Arch community, and have had this transition on my mind since the Twitter buyout. I’m hoping this push will bring enough of us over that it sticks.
I can’t even remember if I subscribed to r/archlinux over there, I’ve eradicated my account now so it doesn’t really matter. The important bits are (1) I’m an Arch user, amd64 and arm7hf mainly. (2) I’m subbed to this community. May it live long and prosper!
I migrated fully from reddit. Deleted my comments and account. This will be my replacement for r/archlinux
Yep! I’m going to hand my subreddits over to others in their respective communities, and possibly delete my account after that.
I have high hopes for Lemmy.
Im sticking with the fediverse.
I just made an account today, planning on deleting reddit soon
I’ll give Lemmy a try, now and currently this seems to be the “to go” community for Arch Linux. So I’ll be around here for a while.
Absolutely!
I’m down for seeing where this trip takes us. If nothing else it’s an opportunity to meet new folks.
It’s going to take a little time and maturing of the software but I think the fediverse had a bright future.
Yeah It seems Lemmy is the place to go from Reddit.
I plan to stay, but can’t know for sure.
By the way I looked in the settings and there didn’t seem to be any way to make Lemmy look like old.reddit
the default Lemmy still seems better than current reddit but I want it to be more compact, like on old reddit
Edit: something more annoying is only 10 or so posts are shown and then I have to click next page.
I do prefer not having infinite scrolling since that loves to eat up RAM, but I should be able to select how many posts are shown per page.
yep! the only thing i used reddit for (other than funny pictures, which we could all realistically do without) was tech support and discussing linux-related topics. And it seems, at least for now, the userbase swings pretty heavily towards tech savvy people so I’m sure this place will be great :)
I am really tired of Reddit. Unfortunately, Reddit’s user don’t care about the API decisions. Screw Reddit.
Definitely, ditched my Reddit account. I was already unhappy with Reddit for some time, so while others are mad about the API changes, for me it’s the best that could happen because it made me discover Lemmy.
