It’s not normal to need that kind of defence in the 21st century… bandits and what not really aren’t a thing here because we have social security safety nets and (admittedly quite crap) mental health care.

Home defense is only normal in the 19th century? I have kids and own guns, not sure what else would be expected.

Zero? Probably not. Low enough that I don’t worry about it? Definitely.
