I suppose these diplomats are also glossing over the whole Nazi thing - https://fair.org/home/nyt-on-ukraines-nazi-imagery-its-complicated/. Hopefully it really is just bad optics.
I don’t see why anyone would seek to deny Ukraine’s past in regards to extreme-right activities or the fact that there are far-right/white supremacist/neo-nazi elements in Ukraine. That’d be just silly.
It is true that Russia has amplified and used the existence of these kind of people as a justification for their ongoing genocidal, imperialist invasion. But it helps no one, certainly not Ukrainians, to deny or minimize their existence.
However if your purpose is to make this matter a primary point of concern for diplomats while Ukraine is undergoing a gencidal invasion, in that case I don’t even have the proper words with me to explain how ridiculous and silly that is. Get a grip.
Also just checked a google cache version of that page. They’re citing and linking to the bloody Gray Zone, Max Blumenthal’s very own cesspit, a known collaborator with Russia Today, Sputnik and rest of the filth.
Thank you, but no thank you.
Get better sources discussing Ukraine’s far right problem, you don’t need to succumb to that trash, mate.
