Dark Reader Pro seems to be the best but I feel it slows down page load time. Is there a better alternative?

This study seems to suggest dark mode can reduce eye strain and fatigue in certain conditions. I personally like dark mode while programming because I can retain focus for longer. But when I am in a bright environment or I have to proofread I occasionally switch themes.
