  • Assuming that’s it’s just the normal force of Earth’s gravity at work on the witch, it’s just a case of working Newton’s second backwards with the gravitational “constant” acceleration ≈ 9.8 m/s²:

    F = ma

    980 N = m × 9.8 m/s²

    980 / 9.8 = (m × 9.8) / 9.8, units omitted for text clarity

    100 kg = m

    In other words, op is assuming that an average size witch masses approximately 100kg (or about 220 lbs in fingers, knees, and toes units).

  • I don’t know about a min length; setting a lenient lower bound means that any passwords in that space are going to be absolutely brute force-able (and because humans are lazy, there are almost certainly be passwords clustered around the minimum).

    I very much agree with the rest though, it’s unnerving when sites have a low max length. It almost feels like advertising that passwords aren’t being hashed, and if that’s the case there’s a snowball’s chance in hell that they’re also salted. Really restrictive character sets also tell me that said site / company either has super old infra or doesn’t know how to sanitize strings (or entirely likely both)…

  • Infested Planet

    RTS. Kind of reminds me of the ground comabt from Star Wars Empire at War crossed with Starship Troopers. Command a squad of space marines tasked with battling an overwhelming alien horde. Pretty fun campaign (if a bit of a predictable story), plus an endless mode. Not exceedingly difficult, but definitely challenging enough to make you think tactically and keep you on your strategic toes. Somewhat limited replayability makes the sticker price hard to recommend (unless your bread and butter is RTS), but it regularly goes on sale for less than $5, which it is absolutely worth!

    I kind of quit Overwatch after they sucked the soul out of it and called it a sequel. It’s not entirely a replacement, but as a fun shooter to play with friends/ family, I’ve mostly moved to playing Deep Rock Galactic. In some ways it scratches the itch: various classes/ roles, weapons, abilities, cooperation and teamwork to accomplish objectives, clicking heads and making things die, and purely cosmetic skins. It doesn’t quite have the satisfaction of a good back and forth grudge match (on account of being a PvE game), but the community is super chill, the game design about as far from predatory as you can get (while there are a handful of exclusive fomo items, it’s mostly just annual anniversary hats, or gifts to commemorate steam award nominations and such, there’s no collection interface to mock you or rub it in for not having them), and the devs are just all around great. Bonus points for being able to spin up or join missions pretty much whenever.

    Actually, yeah! The High Geologist would probably make for a way better warlock patron NPC. Since patrons don’t necessarily have to be divine cosmic entities HG could totally be a crazy strong wizard/ druid. Bonus points for stupid easy plot hooks (go fetch me the heart of a mountain, dragonfire obsidian, etc) quest rewards (just imbue high level spells into rocks/ crystals (ie fireball in a fire quartz, stinking cloud in sulphur, etc.) as a surprise tool to help us later for the party), and conflicts (how do other wizardly geologist feel about warlocks?).

    A warlock dwarf trying to channel the arcane power of the earth sounds like a super compelling springboard for a character.
