  • Huh. Can’t help but wonder if this is connected to why a significant amount of people find asses sexually attractive across gender lines - something about signs of a good persistance hunter (likely quite overstated by base monkey brain), and therefore ability to provide for spawn.

Probably not, but makes ya think. I also accept that I’m thinking about it from a heteronormative, sex as biological imperative for spreading genes POV - so limited and overall probably wrong.

  • Gross, but I’m not shocked. IVF and prenatal genetics screening is big business, it was really only a matter of time until someone tried pulling this. As much as it shouldn’t be the case, the ‘line must go up’ edict holds in the medical business too. I know some large lab services companies that are likely watching groups like this with great interest (but letting them take the risks first, which is smart because this is a con).

My hope is that someone squashes this and we keep screening limited to risks for severe developmental disorders (which, even still, is at least a little ethically problematic) and conditions that lower the probability of the pregnancy coming to term. But we’ll see - there’s gold in dem der embryos.

Edit: Read the original investigative article. Modern Nazis are reportedly involved. Again, gross, but not shocked. https://investigations.hopenothate.org.uk/superbaby-factory/

Would love to see further independent verification from a non-activism-focused source (to be clear, I am not saying the investigators are being irresponsible in their reporting), but the way newsroom budgets have been slashed these days, it’s really only outlets like this doing actual, old school investigative work.

  • It’s very much a different strokes for different folks kinda thing. People I know prefer LSD and other, closely related lysergamides because it gives a bit more of an energy boost - I’ve heard it described as shrooms with a shot of espresso. Others prefer shrooms because it’s a little more laid back feeling.

Granted, your set and setting is really going to set the tone for whatever psych you ingest. Things can go amazingly or very, very badly with either substance depending on your headspace and how you set yourself up/structure your environment for the experience.

  • It actually is -

-I’m not interested in having kids, so I’d want a partner that feels the same.
-I like exercising, so I’d want to be with someone who does as well, particuarly if they’re into (insert physical hobby you enjoy)
-I like to go out and do (insert activities in meatspace that often involve meeting people), so I’d be interested in someone who likes to do that kind of thing over just sitting at home scrolling the internet.

These are good qualifiers that more or less equate to the same thing as OP states without coming across like a dick. From there, if someone was to introduce someone to OP, they can make a further determination of compatibility, and if someone doesn’t match due to the blunter version of the above it can be as easy as “I didn’t really feel a connection, [and unless she’s actually kind of a bitch] but she’s a great person and I hope she meets someone awesome”.

Edit: That said, if you’re the version of yourself that doesn’t match what you’re looking for, you should be working on that before seeking a partner IMO.

  • Naturopaths.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there’s folks doing sane, evidence-based care in this area. But I’ve seen so much bullshit from practitioners, ranging from the grossly unethical to the blatantly dangerous, that I find them hard to trust about anything as a group.

Besides, we already have health professionals that can provide good, evidence-based care (issues like ego v. evidence/new findings to improve care notwithstanding - but there’s crappy people in all fields) - we call them doctors and nurse practitioners. And we need more of those.

  • I mean, a hike is really just a long walk. It often refers to long walks in the country or wilderness, but that isn’t a necessary component.

That said, I don’t know if anyone has any real strict distance thresholds for a ‘hike’ (see: minimum 10 miles/16 km or something). I could maybe see adding a caveat that it should be for purely recreational purposes, rather than say walking to work or something.

Fuck it - you’re an avid hiker IMO. Walks in nature are nice, don’t get me wrong, but I like all the hidden gems you can find hiking in an urban environment (I count graffiti, weird posters, dilapidated buildings/infrastructure, weird shit on the side of the road, etc.)
