Finished the audiobook of Best Served Cold from Joe Abercrombie. I love the narrator for the audiobook, but this one dragged for me. Just started listening to The Heroes and hope that one drags less so I can get caught back up before I start the Age of Madness trilogy.

In print I’m reading Gamechanger by LX Beckett. I’m not in love with it, but it’s getting interesting enough to keep going. If it doesn’t get better I picked up Sea of Dust from C Robert Cargill at the library as well.

No, I only watched like two episodes and it seemed too “young” for me at the time, and then my kids never got into it.

Gotta keep momentum going here in Michigan while the GOP is down. We’ve been doing some GREAT things so far, and I hope we can push further left.

Our governor is pretty great, but she is the daughter of the former CEO of Blue Cross of Michigan, so we’ll never get universal healthcare here under her watch.

Why would we allow ANY foreign government to own land here? Kick the Saudis out of Arizona, too.

I just can’t get excited for this. I just feel like it’s been Star Wars overload, and it’s crazy to think of feel that way: I had every damn book that came out as a kid and couldn’t get enough Star Wars. But the rapid acceleration over the past decade with something new coming on TV or in the theater multiple times per YEAR has just burned me out.

Marvel did the same thing. I just can’t care about anything post Infinity War.

The use of drones in this war is fascinating from afar.

From an American perspective, I keep seeing calls from extremists for a new civil war, and it terrifies me because weaponry like this means shit will go poorly for civilians VERY quickly, even without going nuclear. I imagine that all these kids and young adults who think that playing CoD prepared them for actual war will be in for a big, brief surprise when a drone just deletes them while being operated by some guy in, like, Nevada.

You have to trust 12 random people to convict him. That’s how. There’s no way Trump gets convicted in ANY trial by jury; the cult is simply too strong.

The Stormlight magic system is a lot better than the metal system in Mistborn to me, but the goofiness of using essentially marbles as money just sticks with me. I just picture Adolin constantly walking around with like a cartoon money sack from a bank filled with spheres.

The Mistborn series is just OK, but I want to see the payoff and how this ties into the Cosmere as a whole. I actually disliked it so much the first time I read Mistborn that I gave up halfway through; I thought it was absolutely the dumbest magic system I’ve ever read.

I came back to it after reading the Stormlight books, which is also a dumb magic and currency system but such an epic story I got past it much more easily. The Mistborn series feels a little too YA for me, but I do really like some of the characters.

What’s the series? And what genre is it?

I’m reading The Hero of Ages from the Mistborn trilogy right now. I’m only on chapter 9, but it’s a little “meh” so far.

I’ve read it before, but wanted to reread the six books in the First Law universe before I jump into The Age of Madness, but I had heard good things about the audiobook version. Say one thing about Steven Pacey, say he can voice act!

I spent about 5 hours on it and gave up. I kept waiting for it to get better, but it felt kind of like playing the original Zork, but prettier:

Can’t wait to be bored out of my mind with a AAA game again!

The indictment of the most recent former president for attempting a coup is the biggest story of the century, and the timing of all the UFO news (which was all presented with NO ACTUAL EVIDENCE) is pretty suspicious, especially considering how hard young conservative men seem to be leaning into it. It’s almost like this is a publicity campaign to distract y’all from a very real issue.
