  • Ph yeah, no, I agree with that part. But the part about people waiting till they’re old and then demanding. That part is something we are doing now. We just want people to be taken care of in general. It shouldn’t have to be a worry for anyone of any age.

But I do agree that those who are lucky enough to be able to save should save. Cause even if shit gets crazy, having something to help you will be better than living in an apartment with nothing. Either way it’s a win.

  • Because things were getting worse. And they’re still getting worse. And they will continue to get worse. We have charts and graphs and studies for a lot of different things showing things were getting worse, and have only continued to do so. Like the cost of living didn’t just steadily go up with a steady inflation. It’s been a curve. And then the last few years fucked us pretty bad.

Climate change. Still getting hotter. Still not slowing down enough. Some places are doing their parts, but places like here in the US, we aren’t doing nearly enough. And a lot of the stuff we are doing ends up on backfiring because of capitalism. For instance, California banned the single use plastic bags. But a lot of reusable bags are plastic. The law is the bag needs to be a certain thickness and be advertised as reusable… So places just made thicker bags. And then people still throw them away. So each bag is now more plastic than before.

So yes. They gave us a warning. Things got worse.

So we got a second warning. Things still got worse.

Then rather than shutting up as you would prefer, they gave us another warning. Still getting worse.

  • We aren’t asking for tax payers money to take care of us in the way you’re thinking. We are asking for universal basic needs. For the young and the old. Healthcare, housing, etc. To move past capitalism. Especially since we are already seeing the issues popping up. People are already starting to work later in life to pay the bills. We are already seeing a surge in elderly homelessness. Of people not being able to pass down anything in inheritance because they have health issues and need to stay in a facility which takes everything from them.

We aren’t waiting to say “Now that we are older take care of us”

We are currently saying the system is broken now.

  • Yeah, there’s quite a few contradictions. Like they’re the ones encouraging everyone to start having kids. If people say they can’t afford it, conservatives tell them they will find a way. So if they can’t afford it and do, they’re bad patents. If they can’t afford it and don’t, they’re selfish.

Also we shouldn’t spend other people’s money on these people’s kids for lunches. But we can spend even more of that money putting them on the system? Like it would be cheaper to just give them a breakfast and lunch at school. So even looking at it from a libertarian tax is theft standpoint, it’s still spending money on the kids. But more.

  • The apps is definitely a part of it for me. One if my friends got YouTube Premium, and since he has 3 profiles he can attach to it, hrs letting me use it. It’s nice for the ad free videos on my TV. But it also comes with YouTube Music. It’s honestly kind of annoying at times.

Like yesterday I wanted to listen to an album by a band, and they only have like 2 of 3 albums. The one I wanted to listen to is the one they didn’t have. So I had to make a Playlist by finding videos of the songs.

And thats for a band that’s not super underground. I listen to a lot of grindcore and black metal, and a lot of that isn’t even on there.

And when you download things, you can only have it organized by albums. I can’t organize it by band and then have all the albums.

It’s also sometimes slow to load up stuff I’ve downloaded.

Over all its not the greatest experience. I’m currently looking at getting a mobile game device for my emulators so I can free up space on my phone, and then I’m thinking about just going back to having all the music on files on there and using an music player app. And like you said, I can have it organized how I want and customize things a bit more. Especially since I no longer have Comcast, so I can use Soulseek again.

  • I would argue it’s a slightly effective form… but only if they advertise the point. There’s been plenty of times I’ve seen this for environmentalism, and people start talking about it in the comments. Not completely directly, but it gets them talking. Like when they would super glue their hands to the ground, in one video one of the protestors threw the bottle into a drain. So people started talking about how hypocritical it was because that’s bad for the environment. Which was a small thing, but the conversation was happening.

People used to make fun activists who would throw red paint onto fashion models wearing fur. But over the years, that slowed down because designers stopped using real fur. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of it was because they were afraid of getting their stuff ruined, but now most designers won’t use fur for ethical reasons. Because they realize animals don’t need to be bred and killed for their suits.

The only real downside is that it does make them come off as assholes, but also no real way to turn that around. Like black people would do sit ins at restaurants, and a lot of white people hated them for it… but then other white people also got to see them get abused for it. Things like that can help change people’s perspective. With this, they throw it, and then it mostly stops there. They’re just assholes. It gets the conversation going, but not enough, because it just stops at them being assholes.

  • Same. I think the only time I’ve ever done ng+ is for souls games. But I’m not gonna support this. A few years back I really came to terms with the fact that I’m never gonna play all the games I want to, and it’s OK if some of them slip through the cracks. Now I don’t regret skipping out on a lot of games. Like I would love another old school Assassins Creed. I’m not getting anytbing from Ubisoft. Part of me wanted to give in for that. Then I saw shit about ads on the loading screen, and said nope.

EA. Finally coming out with a new Skate. I still gave copies of the first 3. I would buy a new one after years of wanting it. But it’s EA and Session exists. So I’m good. I’m not even gonna download their free game.

  • You’re not wrong. The basic premise of it seems fine. We have money, which can be a convenient way to do trades. I work in one career, but it doesn’t give me food. Instead I get food from the store. And they need it from the farmers. But having food doesn’t provide them with their other needs, so they go to another specialist. But that specialist doesn’t get everything they need, so they come to me. So using cash is a convenient way of exchanging goods and services.

And some people enjoy running a company. They see a product people need or want, and maybe it’s something they also need or want, and they enjoy making it, so they make a business out of it.

The basic premise of it makes sense. I prefer us to have another system, especially since I can see the issues with it. But for the most part, I also wouldn’t hate it as much if we weren’t in the over aggressive form of capitalism we have now.
