SUSE -> Mageia -> Ubuntu -> Manjaro -> Mint -> Manjaro. Been on Manjaro for 4 years now.

Honestly, besides backupping my data from Windows and choosing a distro that fit my needs, I didn’t really do any preparation.

I’ve had moments where I genuinely felt like ADHD has benefited me, like when went into hyperfocus mode and launched some new project I would have never started otherwise. I feel like I’m a bit more creative and enthusiastic at times. But 99% of the time ADHD is just a condition that sucks for me.

I own a Tuxedo notebook as well as a Tuxedo desktop PC. I can confirm they are of great quality.

At approximately 11 or 12 years I started with SUSE Linux 10.0 on KDE. Got it from a DVD included in a computer magazine. Felt truly great, although I fully made the switch only 10 years later. Also in 2005, I fiddled around with Knoppix.

Blocking mobile browser users will be the beginning of the end. Very few casual read-only users will download the app just to read some content on Reddit. Reddit is highly ranked in search engines and the kind of users that flock into Reddit via Google and the likes for sure make up a decent percentage (perhaps the majority?) of traffic on Reddit. I for sure hope they will enforce this policy, that will only increase Reddit’s downfall.

Snap is easily available on other distros as well. If anything, they want to lock you into their proprietary store.

On my Desktop, I switched to Manjaro (Arch-based) from Mint a few years ago. Works like a charm and I like the rolling release model. On servers, Ubuntu, Debian or SUSE might be a good choice.

Whenever I hear about such decisions, I fear we might end up with a “netsplit” like event in the Fediverse at one point.

I completely switched to Linux in 2015. I’d definitely call myself a gamer. I don’t buy AAA games at release too often, but I sometimes do. I play games for several hours a week. So yeah, probably that makes me a gamer. Nowadays gaming on Linux works great 80-90% of the time. Proton on Steam has massively improved the experience. The only stuff that still regularly causes problems are anti-cheat systems for some multiplayer games. Otherwise gaming on Linux feels almost the same as on Windows.

In that case you’ve missed the point. The idiots are running reddit and the pro-blackout guys were trying to get them back to sanity.

There’s still lots of active PHP projects, including new ones. PHP is actually a nice language and much of its negative reputation comes from the years of stagnation during the late PHP 5.x era. Which is long over. I definitely find PHP to be much nicer than JS for backend development, although I no longer use it professionally.
