  • Bruh, I’ve used Linux for over 10 years. I run Arch on my laptop and have a homelab powered by Proxmox, Debian, and OPNSense. I don’t run any AV in my lab but do follow other security practices.

At work it’s a different story. Products like CrowdStrike also collect logs, scan for vulnerabilities, provide graphing and dashboarding capabilities, provide integrations into ticketing platforms for investigation and remediation by security teams, and more. AV is often required because Windows users can upload infected files to Linux-run SMB shares. Products like CrowdStrike often satisfy requirements set by cybersecurity insurance.

This is not simping, this is not Linux vs Windows. You just clearly have no experience in the enterprise Linux space and business security requirements.

Nah, CS sent out a virus definition update that included a driver file that was fucked and caused a boot loop. Because it was a virus definition it bypassed staging rules set by customers. It’s 100% on CS unless we want to talk about how Windows architectural choices on how it handles loading improperly formatted kernel level drivers. CS also caused issues on Linux not too long ago.

  • Fasting and starving yourself aren’t the same. Starving is either being out of food without fat reserves or eating too little each day so your body never switches over to burning fat stores. Fasting is overall pretty safe and becoming better studied recently.

I’ve been fasting every other day since October and used it to lose 50 LBS. I’ve felt pretty great the whole time and eat high protein/take a multivitamin on eating days to make sure I don’t run into any issues. Occasionally I drink electrolytes on fasting days if I’m being active. Many also do time restricted eating without issues

  • Sounds like it’s time to get a NAS and make a RAID array. Btrfs, mergerfs, Synology’s SHR, TrueNAS’s multi drive size solution, and probably some other options I’m forgetting can accomplish RAID 1 across different drive sizes. Then your files are duplicated to other HDDs in case one fails. Then you can back up to Backblaze B2 to make sure you your data’s backed up off site.

You can do a mixed drive raid solution on Windows with Windows Storage Spaces and backup to Backblaze computer backup for pretty cheap.

This is the upgrade I’ve been planning going from a 2 bay to 8 bay NAS. My wallet is not very happy with me… But the homelab must grow.
