They are creepy and I don’t like the taste too, but just know that they are an important part of nature for reasons someone else can explain better

It’s not like your bridge generation is the only one that know how to use a computer. To me it seems that there are a few ‘experts’ in each generation and the others don’t bother learning it. This is pretty normal and called specialization, the thing that civilization allows us to do.
I grew up with computers, there was no strict need to change OSes or even hardware (of you got prebuilts). Even so, it’s amazing what unrestricted Internet access and an interest in videogames can lead to. And I know a lot of others who either have at least the basic skills, or are studying Computer science together with me.
Perhaps there are trends in each generation, but acting like it’s just one generation that can do computer things is just wrong.

I use synphonium with my jellying server, works just fine.
It’s also sometimes transit, but that’s mostly because the public does not fund and prioritize transit as they should.

3·26 days agoStellaris is one of my all time favorite games, but the late game really becomes unplayable from lag. I have over 1000 hours in it because I love it’s modding and the immersion possible with it, but the performance is a real problem.
They have tried to address this too, with minor success, but that doesn’t help when the start of each month from 2350 onwards takes seconds to load.
I do the same. Forgejo works really well, and I’m also absolutely stoked for forge fed some day.
It also has things like CI/CD. It’s a really really good project and self hosting it is relatively painless. Even integrating it with my identity provider over oidc was no problem.

You don’t need a language runtime if your program has no runtime, right? A rust or C program is just the program, no runtime.
