In this particular case, OP said none of the others met their needs. I would like to know what new functionality this one has to know if it’s something I’m interested in or not. It’s not a critique - it’s helping me understand if I want to check it out or not.

The expression you can’t outrun your fork has hit me hard. I’m up 30lbs since I started running a decade ago, some of it’s muscle, but most is I just need to eat better.

Vast majority don’t, but I found after awhile that my favorite does (Ale8). That was on me - it’s clearly marked.

The extractors are hit and miss for me. The glue trick sometimes works but sometimes makes it worse. Drilling it out works, but requires another set of work to reattach and is a bit scary to perform.

Before doing those, I’d recommend jamming a rubber band on top to gum up the hole, then trying to unscrew it through the rubber band. It works often enough I this before I do any of the other options above. Quicker and less destructive.

It’s so hard to figure out this stuff … but as a guy into computers who was debating going into academia instead of the field, this is what I did …

I took the money, but lived like I had only the academic salary and invested the rest. 15 years in, life is pretty cushy, I’ve found a relaxing niche in my field that I like my job, but it’s basically optional as long as I stay willing to live like an academic. But there were definitely some pains to get here. I might quit and go back, I might quit and travel, or quit and do a start up, but I like my job a lot now so I’m keeping at it.

Not a bad video game, but I thought I had zero chance of liking it. I bought American Truck Simulator for $2 and it’s such a good zone out video with something (radio/e-book/etc) on in the background. When I’m too exhausted to think, but want to be slightly more engaged than just throwing something on TV, it’s now my go to right now. I bought it on the most recent steam summer sale and have 20 hours into already. All of it on the Steam Deck.

I’m in management. I couldn’t even give all my direct reports enough time if I tried to consolidate it down to one day, let alone partners, vendors, stakeholders, etc. Then add in all the project meetings, working sessions, etc …

First game I’ve 100% in a long time. I absolutely loved this game.

I own quite a few books this way. I read first, but then enjoy my rereads via audio books on drives, runs, etc. Often big epic fantasy novels that you discover more on a reread.

I have a slightly different version of this. I get sneezing fits when too full. It’s genetic and happens to most people on one side of my family. Thanksgiving is always fun.

Communication is a two way street. It’s both about the message the sender is trying to convey, but also the way the receiver interprets it. As a (mostly) neurotypical thinker, this is even hard for many of us to get right.

An example for clarity is the response your getting in the comments to your friends comments. Various people are disagreeing and agreeing to different levels. Conversation is navigating the complicated dynamics to as the sender, sending your message in a way the receiver will get the impression you are trying to give, and as a receiver, trying to understand the intent of the message the sender is trying to show.

There aren’t many hard or fast rules. In different online communities, different styles and patterns can conotate different things. There are patterns and styles I use here on Lemmy for example, I would never use in a sports online community because they would be interpreted differently there.

My advice is don’t beat yourself up about it. If you’re not getting the type of interactions you’re expecting in a particular community, that might be the time to ask for feedback or see if your communication style is different than the local group there. But the ephemeral nature of these online conversations make it the perfect place to experiment and find a communication style that works for you and gets the response from others you are looking for.

I have a PSN account. I can’t ethically support this move that locked so many players out 4 months after buying a game. So I won’t be buying until at minimum a solution is in place for all those users, but probably not even then.

Seriously. I’ve never had a game pump adrenaline for me like Tarkov. Combined with the fact that over hundreds of hours of play in a wipe, I still feel like I’m making long term progress in every raid is just addicting. The core gameplay loop is just fun.

Give me a good dev who respect their players who can give me these things and there goes years of my gaming time.

I love Roguelikes. I love FPS. Tarkov is my favorite game, but damn does it squander it’s potential.

Its too jarring in the middle for users of Dark Mode. I’ve used your app and paid for premium on reddit. I haven’t here because the price to value isn’t there compared to other options at its current price point. I’ve been using your lemmy app since it released but this ad change had me immediately switch.

He mentions looking into contractors which is basically exactly this. Going through a 3rd party can make that process easier for short term needs, which is what he is saying the current situation might be.
