Exactly. With the IPO coming up, they can claim high engagement which is why I personally think that the best move is to not engage at all.
Here is to hoping he does. The show has been off the air lately because of the writers’ strike but his team arguably does better investigative journalism than many of the big name news outlets.
Every attempt to fix this is met with boomers screaming about ruining the unique character of the neighborhood.

Joking aside though, they do a great job of calmly and rationally talking about controversial topics. The weekend shows can get surprisingly spicy though.

I too want some long overdue schadenfreude but I am just going to hold my breath for the next 24 hours. At this point, it mostly the most rabid followers who still back him - The type who are most likely to start something.

Overall, this definitely feels like a promising alternative with some growing pains. The bigger communities are decently active but the decentralized nature of Lemmy carries the risk of some communities becoming too fragmented where communities are duplicated in different instances. As some other users have suggested, This could be remedied by creating “Super communities” spanning the Fediverse which could help with growing to a scale large enough to rival Reddit and incentivise even more Redditors to make the switch.
20 year old me would see that as an opportunity for an epic Harold & Kumar inspired road trip.
