Mine were fairly recent and needed to be deleted several times to stay deleted. Seemed really random.

Keep your account for a while after deleting
Mine are staying delete now after initially a few popping back up. What’s more concerning is that I requested my data a few weeks after I deleted my content. I was fully expecting to get empty files but nope ALL of my content. Dating back 10 years is still there! It’s not on my Reddit profile but they clearly kept it somewhere and can recall it whenever they want to. They do not delete the data.
Ah it’s a tight race with the Twitter blue check mark
Ugh!!! I know that’s part of gardening but that really sucks!
Haha genius!!!
I had some posts and comments come back twice already. They definitely were gone. I used redact. This morning I deleted 2 posts manually and they were back within 2 hours. I wouldn’t write Reddit off here. I’ll keep my account and will be watching this a little longer.
I deleted my content and kept the account. Today I had some content back! It seems like they are restoring. I’ll keep my account to delete again and again if they do that.
It already has over 100k now
We have a couple more to go I guess. However any “disturbance” like that brings more people to the fediverse. And the stronger we get the better. The rest can stay on Twitter and Reddit. We need critical mass of good active users and we are set. I think Mastodon has done that. It feels like a nice large community. Lots of chatter and people are still steadily coming over. We don’t need to add more people to make it great. I think we have reached level of great that just attracts people now.
I think it does matter. Not everybody can replace everybody immediately. A lot of people a lurkers and sheeples. You always have a core of excellent people that carry the community. Mods (mostly) are really the glue who holds the sub together. And you have a few key people that create amazing content, several that round it out and those if you lose … good night.
One way to help out is open a couple of your fav subs if they don’t exist yet! I have done 2 so far and I hope we can also have a decentralized spread of subs here.
That’s amazing. I hope some Reddit mods consider this
Or local ones. I specifically looked for a Canadian one as they tend to not be super huge.
I did this on Friday. I used Redact. 10 years on Reddit
That would be co
I used search. This way you can also just click a button to sign up. I have browsed lists but it’s more work to sign up
Just got their email. That was it for me. I had kept my account to make sure they aren’t bringing back my deleted posts. Time to get rid of the account and tell them they suck.
