  • A YouTuber explained it as follows:

On Linux, Anti cheat runs on the user level. The cheaters are on Windows and spoof their OS as Linux, so they can run anti cheat on the user level, not flag as suspicious and then run kernel level cheat software.

I have no technical knowledge myself, have no idea of this is true and will not be able to answer questions about this.

  • The problem isn’t Trump (in this case), the problem is social media. Get off social media. Find better alternatives. Even at the best of times, when are people ever having a civil conversation about art, movies, music, etc?

I don’t use apps unless they allow creation of block lists. My news RSS app has loads of keywords blocked (including Trump, Harris, etc). My Lemmee block list is huge. Items like this post get through when they don’t trigger my keywords, but this makes me think I really should add on “USA”.

  • I came to Lemmy just looking for a Reddit alternative. I think this is a superior forum system with user scoring and nested comments. But I do love that it is open and federated and I’m glad to be rid of Reddit completely.

I am a huge tech nerd and love doing these things as side projects (but I prefer making hardware). I like making stuff so the things I’ve been making/setting up are:

    • Setting up a R.Pi as a retro gaming console
    • R.Pi Kodi media player
    • Putting together a hotswap keyboard from a kit
    • Migrating to privacy alternatives and degoogling my life
    • Migrating to Linux
    • Making a fight game controller from scratch
    • Making a custom keyboard with soldering and custom layout (and then again for having the same keyboard at work)
    • Building a new gaming PC
    • Getting a synology NAS and going down the Docker rabbit hole
    • Making another fight game controller…or 3

Now I’m planning making a DIY microphone for MS Teams meetings

  • I don’t know anything about iOS, but I use FB on Android for the marketplace. I keep a prepaid sim card for giving a phone number to accounts like this. I throw away the sim every few years and burn the accounts and make new ones. FB is used from a browser in a seperate work profile on the phone to keep it isolated.

This sub obviously has a strong reaction against FB. But if you need to use it then put up what defended you can and go for it.
