iPhone user and monthly signal donor here. Have been using it since it was available for signal. Have managed to get everyone I care about to install and use it.
I basically made it the only way to message me and get my attention.
I’m not that special, I just care about my friends and I think they might like me enough to do this one thing for me. At least they know they can cut me out of their lives by uninstalling signal.
Pretty much. I watch all the NordVPN Man ads and don’t even sign up for a 12 month discount and the first month free. I’m basically a criminal.
Also Mullvad FTW.
I manually skip all sponsored segments except for the Internet Historian ones.
I also encourage people to repost content from Reddit to Lemmy. It’s free estate!
It’s also morally and ethically sound.
Yeah mastodon has come a long way. I hope your govt manages to pull it off just to prove it can be done.
Then I think many others will follow.
It really does make a lot of sense for govts. They have their instance and can then host accounts for all their departments. People from all over the Fediverse can then sub to them for updates.
I think most govt bodies do both.
They run and report on their own infrastructure and also report wherever else the masses are.
Really makes sense for govts to start running their own mastodon instances I reckon.
Temporarily embarrassed billionaires now.
I never stopped sailing my friend.
We don’t even crack the top ten now. We used to be cool.
Not going to research this but I reckon that we done fucked ourselves with capitalism.
Market failures are only for the people to absorb. The profits though…
Unfortunately the damage has already been done.
The Assistance and Access Bill 2018 pretty much forces companies to backdoor their products when requested if they operate in Australia.

Something inside me just died.
Yep. Can confirm. We see heaps of them here in Sydney.
They are one of the few birbs that take no shit from sulphur crested cockatoos (who’s only existence seems to be to cause mayhem, but I still love them).
Sydney, Australia.
They let business owners in the city vote in local elections. That includes anyone with an investment property in the city of Sydney boundary.
The change was brought in to get rid of the existing mayor. Funny thing is it didn’t work. Turned out most residents and businesses thought she was doing good job. She’s been the mayor since 2004.
Anyone watched to Chinese version?
I’ve started to and it seems good so far.
What happened with beehaw?
To quote myself, there’s no “ethical certainty” when (hypothetically) travelling back in time. You can never know the untold devastation you will introduce or avoid by making major or even minor changes.
I love time travel stories but most of them really skip over some of the more complex issues.
Which reminds me of a fairly low budget movie that was actually not bad, Time Trap. Check it out if you can find it.
