  • That’s the thing … most people who are doing work themselves at home and for their own purposes, never need something like O365 … when it comes to schooling it should be the same, unless the school is doing very specific particular thing just to justify using O365, then it shouldn’t be required

Word processing is very simple … I have an old Underwood typewriter from 1921 … I can write and format a letter using it if I wanted to … it shouldn’t be any more complicated than that.

Microsoft pushing their software is just a cheap salesman selling snake oil that you don’t need and doesn’t do anything special.

    lol

Isn’t this how every other authoritarian regime on the planet operates? Control all the main media sources, promote only the main messages and propaganda that you want people to see and listen to, repeat it all endlessly, repeat it everywhere, fund it so that this media machine has all the resources it needs to maintain everyone’s attention all the time.

Then when someone on the outside looks in … everyone inside will think they are weird because they exist in their own reality.

  • The same thing is looking like it’s going to happen in Canada

Current Liberal government is going to hold out all support for a genocidal country doing genocidal things for no apparent obvious reason and any moderate voter out there will avoid them for them it.

It doesn’t matter what your politics are … if your political party openly and wholeheartedly wants to support something that does no benefit to your country, ruins the lives of others and supports a maniacal regime, and does it at the cost of millions and billions of dollars -> why would you want to vote for them?

I don’t get it … sure Israel is pretty important but why would political leaders obviously tank their entire prospects just to save the support of a country that has very little to do with their own other than to cost everyone money.

  • It’s a sure sign to me of the culture of America over the past few decades.

People were a bit open to the idea of watching Star Trek in the 60s and 70s which is why the show even existed. There was a feeling of being more open and questioning of politics, futurism and society in the 90s with the Trek shows from that period with the stories and narratives they displayed for everyone to see.

Since then it has felt like a Trek fan is someone to ridicule or put down. As if the whole idea of Trek and the stories that were written are just fantasies and mean nothing and have no message or nothing important to share.

To me, that has always been what I liked about Trek … the fact that we could hold a mirror up to ourselves and look at the stupid things we did and look back on ourselves from a distant fictional future universe and think about what we will look like to those future generations. Everything we find so important and significant today means nothing to those people that will come after us. And if we do want to hold on to so many damned disgusting, terrible and backward things now … then there won’t be any future generation in the stars that will look back on us … instead, they will either not exist or they will inhabit caves and forests and remember us as a myth from the past.
