Agree with the Synology recommendation for a simple starter. Though personally always recommend the 4 bay.
Learning to follow hashtags was a game changing moment for me on Mastodon. Went from not really using it at all to frequent user.
Galaxy S20: I have not found a compelling reason to upgrade
I have done basically the same thing. With a few differences.
I setup Transmission and SaBnzbd on the NAS but offloaded sonarr/radar/prowlarr + jellyfin to my server so it’s not taking up resources from the NAS.
Found Usenet to download significantly faster overall and sonarr/radar get releases from them much quicker then torrents. Only about 1/15 downloads end up being torrents.
Also overseerr is an amazing tool that you should add into your system. I use it for myself but I also have made accounts for my family so instead of asking me to download something they can just press two buttons and it automatically does the rest.
It’s all public information.
Admins are shown on the front page
Modlog shows even when an admin is added or removed.
Blocked instances are shown in the instances list.
Yep. MichelleG admin was added back and posted an update but it doesnt appear that her account was fully secured so they are probably still accessing it via her account.
Admin account was compromised. Looks like they are working on it but it will take a bit to fix all the stupid that was done.
EDIT: Looks like things are starting to resolve.
EDIT 2: MichelleG account admin was restored and she posted and update but shortly after the changes happened again. Her account is likely still compromised with someone else accessing things via it.
EDIT 3: lemmy.world back online. MichelleG has again been removed as admin. Most things appear to have been cleaned up. Blocked instances still need to be fixed however.
Not sure this needed to be posted 11 times.
Your user login only works on your instance. Any instance that is federated with your instance you can interact with through your instance. You cant interact with a different instance directly.
Which is why in the screenshots above You cant vote on the first one since that is interacting directly with lemmy.ml. However you can interact with the second because you are interacting with lemmy.ml through lemmy.world
That would be a bug on liftoff. Report it there instead of trying to make another account.
Home assistant OS is also my recommendation. Add-ons are pretty important IMO. Plus for something I am planning to try and have 100% uptime and controlling my home smart devices I don’t want it containerized and at the mercy of docker.
Currently using 15 add-ons myself.
This is one of the biggest things I think Lemmy needs. You should be able to create a backup of your profile and export/import it into another instance. That way if something happens or you have a problem with the instance admins you can migrate with no loss or minimal loss to your account.
The early Sync for IOS was made by a different dev so unless they are doing it then not likely.
I think a part of the “giving up to reddit mods” is the hopes that it will incentivise the reddit mods to push their subreddit to the community instead of trying to keep people on reddit just to maintain power.
Personally I have made several communities that I enjoyed in reddit. While I dont mind modding it’s kind of a pain in the ass as well though.
Beehaw has defederated from around 380 instances according to: https://github.com/maltfield/awesome-lemmy-instances
magazine = community = subreddit
Magazine is the term used for kbin.social users like @Gamers_Mate@kbin.social who is a Kbin user. In Lemmy they are called communities.
You can do a search on your local instance like:
https://lemmy.world/communities
or use a community browser like:
Considering the current state of other subs turning to NSFW content to hurt Reddits chances with advertisers I imagine that is what happened.
Seems like it was an innocent enough thing that happened at a bad time and you got hit by it by either accident or another mod stabbing you in the back.
You are talking about the Ultra lifetime. Just ad free is $20 USD.
