I was a little lost until the iPod and the t9 showed up, then it was almost scary how normal it all felt. I didn’t even realize I still remembered t9 but I didn’t even have to think.
Kids these days are just so lazy, back then the average man could lift way more weight
I wish the EU would fucking invade the US already. Either put us out of our misery or save us, either way, it stops our leaders from spreading the evil and murder around the globe.
I feel the struggle! I wish more industries and the world in general was better adapted for the night owls around us. I wish you could get an office job that was 9pm to 5am, and I wish you could attend college classes in person overnight. Ever since Covid even grocery stores and places like Walmart and Target arent open past 10 or 11 pm anymore, instead of 24 hours like they used to be. Basically, I wish there was a whole different world that took place at night (and I’m not talking about partying, just those of us who wish to live normal life nocturnally). I’ve seen it put in the way like hundreds and thousands of years ago we would have been so useful to our “tribes”, because someone had to stay up overnight and watch for predators and bandits and such, but now there’s no need for that so our nocturnal abilities are forced to adapt to a world that tells us we’re useless lazy people for staying up late and sleeping during the day.
The only time I felt human was when I worked night shift. I can spend hours trying to fall asleep and I sleep like shit until around dawn, then I sleep like the dead until whenever I need to get up. When I worked night shift I’d get home around 7:30-8am, eat a small meal, shower, be in bed by 8:30-9:00 am, and if it took me more than 15 minutes to fall asleep it was unusual. I’d be out solid until anywhere from 2-5pm and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. When I switched from days to nights people who’d known me for years kept commenting on how my entire personality changed and how I was so much happier; for the first time in my entire life I wasn’t struggling through a constant haze all day every day.
I have an interview this week for a night shift job and my heart is absolutely dancing at the thought of getting back into that schedule again.
What if we can’t see God because we’re all just a bunch of random synapses firing in some higher beings brain while they’re having a fever dream? After our world “ends” they’re gonna wake up and go “holy shit that was a fucked up dream”
Modded Skyrim in VR is amazing too. I’ve put my Index on and had hours slip by without realizing it. There’s nothing like wandering around Skyrim and killing dragons in VR. And then of course there’s also Half Life Alyx. That game will make you forget you’re in a game…
Genuine question, I just tried this on my phone with both Firefox and Brave (my backup browser). Why does Firefox leak so much more data than Brave? Brave pretty much only showed which number version of Android I’m running and my time zone, Firefox showed all kinds of unique data including all the sensor readings from my phone, how many cameras it has, all the hardware components, and that fingerprint reading is allowed and I have all my settings as strict as they can be. I thought Firefox was supposed to be the way better option.
Chewy is amazing. Price is very consistent and customer service is scary good. I once ordered food for my cat while sitting eating dinner. The next morning at 6am I opened my door to go to work and literally tripped over my cats food. I still have no fucking clue how the hell it got to me so quick, it was 12ish hours. When I moved and switched my auto subscription their system flagged my change of address as fraud and emailed me to call customer service. I called at literally 3am (because I’m a freakish night owl) expecting to work my way through an automated system and the phone rang twice and a very cheerful person answered. I almost hung up in shock and then almost was the jerk calling at 3am asking “why are you answering the phone at 3am?”
Thanks! This is all good information and I appreciate you taking the time to write it all out for me!
I did google it, and found a bunch of articles about dual booting with windows 7. I didn’t know if it was still possible or if it would be smart to try for someone with no experience with Linux, so I thought I’d come to a sub where there are tons of people who use Linux daily and could give me some advice about whether I should try it or not. Thanks for the input :)
Thanks! I’ve been interested in Linux for awhile now. I don’t plan on sharing files between the two OSes, and I’m religious about my backups. If I don’t have at least 3 or 4 backups I don’t consider my data backed up :)
I have no idea. I’ve known it for years. All my computer knowledge is self taught so random things I’m fairly knowledgeable on and then there’s things that are common knowledge I’ve never heard of. I’m doing my best out here! I was a sheltered kid who grew up into an adult that doesn’t know anyone tech savvy!
Thank you! This is all good advice. I’ve never actually used a VM but will have to do more research on installing and using one. When you (and everyone else here) say shrink the partition from inside windows, do you mean from within the disk management software? I’m familiar with that, having added extra drives on my other computers. I actually have 3 computers, 2 laptops and a gaming rig I built, but they both have Nvidia GPUs and I’ve heard so many bad things about Nvidia and Linux and I don’t want my first Linux experience to be fighting it out with those. If I like Linux I’ll probably switch one of my other computers over to Linux either entirely or on one of the second drives (both my other computers have 2 different drives).
I noticed a few months ago that if I would put things in my cart and not order them right away, the price in my cart would jump a lot without notice, but the price on the page would stay the same. Like, I added something that was $30 to my cart, 2 days later it was $50 in my cart but the store page still showed the price as $30 and there wasnt the usual “an item in your cart changed price” message. I had to delete it from my cart and re-add it to get the price to drop. There was no deal, it wasn’t subscribe and save, nothing. This happened multiple times. I also had prime and couldn’t tell you the last time my shipping took less than 2 weeks, and I live near a city. I’ve since canceled prime and stopped ordering from Amazon unless I can’t find what I need elsewhere. Want to scam me, fuck you.
Skyrim and Witcher 3. Shoutouts to Baldurs Gate and Witcher 2, but the latter is far too short for me to want it on my “you can only play this” list, it’s quirky but there’s something special as hell about it for me. I’ve played it through about 15 times.
I was cleaning out awhile ago and found my first ever smartphone, a Galaxy s3. Boy, the memories… that phone sure wasn’t perfect, but I think it’s still my favorite phone, and it was literally the perfect size for my tiny ass hands. I hate hauling a small tablet around.
My school uses MS for a bunch of the logins. 2FA is setup through your phone, which isn’t annoying or anything. So anytime I login, I need my phone handy, and then I have to type in the stupid code into my phone and then a password to approve it and then maybe 25% of the time it decides me clicking “yes this is me” actually means “no, deny!” and boots me out and then I have to authenticate a different way. And if I sign into a different school website that uses the same damn MS login it kicks me from any other school websites I’m currently logged into so I have to log back into them even if they’re still open in another tab and I’m actively working in then. So yeah, I’d like to think I’m smart, but I’d definitely just rush through another MS authentication request because I’m so damn sick of them.
I missed that update! This is great news!
Yes, you’re right, my mistake!
