  • I’ve had one for roughly 15 years and use it almost every day. I most often use it as a baking pan or for grilling things. Not much sticks to it and what does is easily scrubbed off. I don’t season it in any meticulous way, just put a coat of cooking oil on and toss it in the oven every few months. I don’t cook acidic things in it - that is the rare time I use the stainless. I definitely understand why some don’t like the weight but I’m used to it.

  • Yeah this attrition is expected by Amazon. IBM and others did this earlier. If enough people choose to RTO they will do “real” layoffs and get a pat on the back in the news for not letting as many people go as they would have had to before. Optics I guess. IIRC this is the second round for Amazon.

Some are saying companies are doing this to keep their property values up but I think that’s only one facet. What I don’t see being called out often is companies doing this are hiring replacements overseas in tax havens and/or where they can pay less for talent. Real kicker is, those hires wind up being remote anyway to the anchor offices.

I’m diagnosed. If I haven’t had coffee in a few days and drink a few strong cups it mainly drives up my anxiety and wakes me up a tiny bit. Then I usually crash hard. If I’ve had it for multiple days in a row, I can barely register any difference in how I feel at all. It definitely affects my resting heart rate though, so I try to keep my intake low. Eating a snack and staying hydrated is more affective at perking me up.
