Nice, I used “I don’t care about cookies” for a while which just accepted or hid the pop-up and then blocked tracking locally. They got bought out by some corpo tho so I stopped using them.

It will definetly hinder its growth. I hope the ml instance just gets mostly irrelevant when instances that allow for more free speech can grow accordingly. They might create a stronger cesspool of likemineded tankies but it hurts the overall platform

I haven’t used lemmy up until this point. They pose as a general purpose instance and are the 2nd largest lemmy instance at that. I knew the lemmy devs had their preferences but I didn’t know they would let it effect their moderating so strongly.

They banned me recently since I was writing a comment talking about how many “memes” on !memes@lemmy.ml are oftentimes not even memes and just unfunny pushing communist agenda and how I was thinking about blocking the instance. It got a bit too many upvotes from them and I ended up getting banned. So in response I made this meme and posted it to !linuxmemes@lemmy.world

Let me give you one example: Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia. He gave the company away to a non-profit 2022 making him no longer a billionaire. Patagonia gives 1% of its total sales to environmental groups and he started the company himself by selling hand-forged mountain climbing gear. Just because people don’t make the negative headlines doesn’t mean generalizing is a good idea, even if such high positions are more likely to have people with sociopathic tendencies as ruthlessness in business is often rewarded.

It doesn’t really matter what one thinks of the civilian tragedy in Gaza when it comes to whether or not Israel is fighting Hezbollah defensively. In support of Hamas they started sending more bombs in the northern border of Israel so the IDF followed suite to prevent Hezbollah.

Although not open source, I use Obsidian since its really extensible, works completely local and has open source extensions. I thought about using Logseq too. I’d never trust Microsoft with my personal notes tho.

Honestly, when a road is closed for a weekend at irregular intervals without a schedule in advance its not reasonable to map it. I contribute to OSM from time to time and thought about it as well but the general consensus is to map regular closures or road closures that go on for like more than a month. OSM is a general purpose map and not for mapping road closures as current data will be used long after now on offline navigation gps devices. We would probably need an open street closure map that aggregates all the databases for road closures and interact with osm. For the major ones I know I’ve just been blocking what I know locally to not route through it, as I can’t be bothered in starting a project like that

But I don’t think Magic Earth is that widely used. How precise is it really?

Honestly, I uses organic maps and if its not mapped I just go on the business website. Fuck google, thats why!
