“I think I have the power to end this war, and I think it’s going very well. But today I heard, ‘Oh, well, we weren’t invited.’ Well, you’ve been there for three years,” Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort. “You should have never started it. You could have made a deal.”

They weren’t just there for three years, they were always there, it’s their country.

Trump went on to say: “I could have made a deal for Ukraine that would have given them almost all of the land, everything, almost all of the land, and no people would have been killed, and no city would have been demolished, and not one dome would have been knocked down. But they chose not to do it that way.”

So, is he saying he could have prevented the invasion if Ukraine hadn’t somehow caused him to lose the election in 2020? Or is he saying that he could have prevented the invasion as a private citizen and Ukraine turned down his help? Either way, I seem to recall him refusing to say how he would end the war in a day specifically because he wasn’t just going to give that away for free, since it was supposedly a selling point for him being president again.

Also, keeping “almost all of the land” means he would have offered free territory to Russia in response to the mere threat of invasion. As if we needed more proof that he was an incredibly stupid bastard with zero negotiating skills and absolutely no understanding of war, strategy, geopolitics, history, etc.
