For the sake of some content in this community I just wanted to ask what your favourite characters are in Genshin Impact and why.
Either playable characters or NPCs.
I will start:
My favourite character is Nilou because of her flowy attacks with her elemental skill and her overall design. I also really like Mona because of her hat (I’m a big fan of giant witch hats)

Zhongli.
I love how calm and stoic he is while also being the absolute badass when he needs to.
Yelan, scara and kazuha! I love the mobility they provide

Yes nighttime Layla was really surprising. I like her a lot more than daytime Layla.
Totally agree, Fischl and Hu Tao were one of my first mains because I love their JP voice actresses. I also did not find Layla that interesting when she released but I eventually developed a soft spot for her as I played the event storylines cuz she’s a mood and relatable as a uni student myself.
I love Kokomi.
She’s just so nice, an excellent strategist that would really rather read books all day, but somehow became the leader of a county and a revolution.
Getting tired of social interactions is a mood.
Her mermaid theme and all that stuff with Enkanomiya just makes it even better.
I can’t get enough of Cyno’s jokes.
Kazuha. He was my second 5 star ever (first was Qiqi). I pulled him on release not knowing that there was a lot of negative impressions on him. I thought the grouping, animations, and stuff were so cool.
Do people actually not like him or was it just a reddit thing?
I don’t think it was just a reddit thing. I remember he was constantly called a Sucrose sidegrade outside of reddit, too, and that he isn’t worth it because Inazuma was around the corner. If you want to believe the China iOS sales posts, he also didn’t enter the meta until later when people realized how great he was. It’s considerably better nowadays.
I don’t really know actually. I wasn’t following Genshin Impact on social media at the time. I only found out on discussions in r/genshinimpactleaks long after that people were using Kazuha as an example of “a perceived bad unit but ended up really good” similar to the Kokomi situation.

Gameplay: Heizou. His playstyle feels very unique. (and who needs a weapon when you’ve got these hands?)
Design: Kazuha. Absolutely love his color scheme.
Personality: Venti. I love his playful attitude.Overall: Also Venti lol (bonus points for his en va’s amazing voice)
In no particular order:
- Ayaya (strong, comfy and I love her dash, it’s amazingly useful)
- Layla (Just like me fr fr + amazing shield)
- Hu Tao (Strong and funny)
- Yelan (mainly because of gameplay)
- Noelle (Aka the One Maid Army)
- Keqing (One of the most fun gameplay)
- Fischl (Love her personality, and Oz, and she’s fun both on field and off field)
- Beidou (I love her burst)
- Nahida (most comfy off-field DPS)
- Lumine (I love the voice of her JP dub and her design)
- Benny (BOUKEN DA BOUKEN)
- Heizou (I like kung fu)
- Yoimiya (She’s a cinnamon roll, even though I don’t have her yet)
- Candace (Gorgeous and has a nice voice. Hydro infusion is also fun)
- Dehya (I love her story and characterization, but I dislike her gameplay a lot)
- Rosaria (Barsibatos’ bestest follower)
- Collei (her getting cringe from others is amazingly relatable)
Scaramouche, i like redeemable jerks haha
Certainly Yoimiya
she is super cute in her quests and actually is fun to play and free2play friendly

Kokomi is by far my favourite character, for her design, story, personality and voice. Gameplay wise she’s also super powerful. I also love Raiden Shogun, Nahida and Yelan for similar reasons. Those 4 are my main party, with Yelan being my most recent build to lvl 90 with talents at 9-10. I’m finding Yelan’s gameplay style to be the most fun lately.
My next party I’m building to lvl 90 is Yoimiya, Ayaka, Barbara and Yae Miko.
My absolute favorite is Xiao. I simply vibe with his quiet, reclusive nature, his design is great, I love the lengthy dev notes on his concept and his kit is still fun after all this time. He has such a firm grip on my poor little heart.
Scara has slowly become my second favorite, for some reason. He wasn’t really on my list when he first appeared in that one event, thought he was cringey and a dumbass, but later realized that’s what makes him funny and now he has a stupid nickname to boot. His new blue color scheme suits him much better, too.
Just lore: Zhongli. Absolute king.
Gameplay: Raiden Shogun, love the way she pulls the group up with her electro.
Combined: Xiao. His lore is great, being the last of his kind. And gameplay wise, I mean who doesn’t want to jump 20m into the air, and also basically fly.

Childe is my #1 character and has been since I first met him in… 1.3? 1.4?
Second place is currently Bennett, it switches back and forth between him and Kaeya (who’s either second or third, currently third).
After that, things get a bit more fluid. I’ve recently fallen in love with Gorou - which really surprised me. (I’ve been doing fics for everyone’s birthday, wrote his, decided that I actually liked him.) So he’s fourth now. But 4th place is really up for grabs at all times, whereas 1, 2, and 3 are pretty fixed.
