Like, a majority of my direct interactions with some users from all across the Fediverse and not just Lemmy have been annoying. The kind of nuisance where I feel like I absolutely want to maim the person who bothered responding to me.

At least with Reddit, I know I can expect it because it’s a wider audience and that’s part of it’s reputation. With the Fediverse, for a considerably smaller pool of people in comparison that desire more friendlier engagements because of wanting an alternative, they certainly have proven to be the biggest jackasses of the bunch.

Which makes me think that there’s really no hope for the Fediverse in general to be as big as the opposition. Because once people see that there’s virtually no difference between where they’ve been from where they are, it almost defeats the purpose of having switched at all.

And that’s pretty much where I’m sitting currently.

Sounds like you’ve performed a root-cause-analysis and concluded there seems to be a common denominator.

    From the modlog (https://sopuli.xyz/modlog?userId=14709182)

That’s typical Redditard mentality. Does anyone on that shitty platform really think that they’re free to express themselves as the site lies to them about when they sign up? Why should anyone be sympathetic, other than shills and corporate bootlickers still thinking shit will ‘trickle down’ for them, to people who have such a stranglehold of an influence on thousands to millions of lives every day? Who do they think they’re fooling here? “Don’t wish on death people, it’s wrong, wah!” Fuck that! I will wish death on people who’ve made countless people suffer because of their stupid, selfish and self-centered decisions.

Got a problem with my commentary? Redditard is the offense? Well FUCK YOU and your fucking snowflake mentality, you emotionally charged bitch!

Because your obnoxious obliviousness makes light on the idea of piracy. Like you expect it to hold your hand in every step of the way. Plus, I am overwhelmingly tired of people like you with that kind of attitude. You’re the kind of pirate that downloads and barely learns. The ones always asking if they need a VPN for the thousandth time when we’ve told you for the thousandth time and more, that you do. So, no, I do not have to treat you with kindness. Enjoy the block. Keep raining those petty downvotes of yours for all I care.

    Sh.itjust.works even banned OP: https://sh.itjust.works/u/Pyrin@kbin.melroy.org

So yeah, not sure who’s the “biggest jackasses of the bunch”

Seems like you’re no better because you’re just shit stirring for the sake of shit-stirring. Did you have to come out of the woodwork to be a hypocrite?

    People are people

The first groups to come to a new platform are the hopefuls, the trendsetters, and the fringe groups … Sadly this last group is the loudest.

I block all politics subs, I have about 100 people on my block list, and Lemmy is pretty nice and helpful. There are a bunch of people I haven’t blocked yet but give tags like troll/combative/talking points. Helps me keep track… And most of the anger and hate… From the same tagged people over and over and over.

If this seems like alot of work, consider joining beehaw, they have very active moderation, and if you stick to local communities you will have a more curated experience.

Including down votes! There are some people who basically only downvote every thing, their thumbs must be tired.

Ohh my first downvote proves my point @Orbituary@lemmy.world graced me with a downvote, look at their comment history, they are filled with combative vitriol and hate ; Great example that while lemmy can seem hateful and noisy, its just a few people.

We see more of these people because they are loud, post often, and rejected from other platforms. Lemmy van be great dispite them.

Well, a decent amount of us are Reddit refugees and assholes are everywhere, so naturally some of the Reddit assholes came along and are starting shit with the OG Lemmy assholes and us dumbass’s are stuck in the middle trying to talk about Linux and our boi Luigi while giant shitballs are flying past all around us.

Once you can ignore the shitballs, it’s way better than Reddit.

So I guess my theory has been proven right, with fragile moderating and even more fragile user interaction. The Fediverse is absolutely no better than Reddit and seems to be a platform just for programmers, nerds and a small pocket of refugees from other social media branches.

I hate feeling like I’m right, but I am.

Sounds like you’re fitting in just fine.

Can’t say I disagree though. This is the most unwelcoming group of people I’ve ever encountered. It’s like only the most vocal, combatative and radical redditors came here. Hell, probably made reddit a better place to be in even.

Lemmy does like a good dogpile, I think some of the reddit moderation features that are detested actually helped reduce some of the standing wave aggression we see on lemmy.
