I’m so confused how Lain suddenly became popular. I watched it in the late 90s/early 2000s and was so obsessed with it that I bought a messenger bag like Lain has, and built a Windows theme based around the OS in the show. It’s an incredible ride and I’m glad it’s getting the attention it deserves.

I wasn’t ready for zoomers/genalpha rediscovering old anime like Lain and Azumanga Daioh, but I’m glad it’s happening.

I hope Simoun is next on the list, I wanna see the anti-woke crowd collectively lose their mind because of it.

It has always been popular,. I watched it then too. I think it’s just that the fan base for anime in general is much, much bigger now so things get a lot more exposure.

I don’t think it has always been popular. For the past 20 years I’ve been mentioning it to people who watch anime and most have never heard of it.
